I wonder if Wak, the boy alien from The Explorers was meant to resemble Will H. Hays? They show footage of Hays giving a speech in American Grindhouse (which Joe Dante appears on) and the mannerisms plus facial expressions seemed freakily similar.

I wish I could find some footage of Hays online.
