Make a fucking anthology film from the 3 or 4 best stories in Skip and Spectors first BOOK OF THE DEAD. My picks would be

Like Pavlov's Dogs
Wetwork
On The Far Side Of Cadillac Desert
Jerry's Kids Meet Wormboy (one of my old bands is mentioned in this story. I almost shit my pants when I read it..e-mailed chow the author but he didn't give a fuck. Oh well, he's still in my top 3 horror authors!)

I had to read it a few times, but I think he's saying screw rewriting Romero. Do an adaptation of David Schow's stories instead. And then call it Dawn of the Dead just to confuse everybody.

Thats what I thought...which would basically make it even worse, because not only are they stealing the title and misleading people it's not going to be even closely related to the original movie. Kinda like Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Dr. Caligari.

Oh they should surely just do a picture from Wetwork.

I have a script by Daniel Farrands and Phil Nutman based on Jack Ketchum's novel The Girl Next Door which bizarrely enough turned up on Coppola's Zeotrope website that I frequent with a bunch of ribald nardowell screenwriting hopefuls...nice to see Nutman's still plying his wares - though an adaptation of this great zombie tale should be one of them...

I've never read that damn thing.... Cause I can't find it... is it out of print? Is it available anywhere? please!.. I must know!

However anything that isn't set in a mall and completely bastardizes the original is fine with me. call it whateverthehell you want. I'd be happy with Avery's idea.

No no no. Sorry for not explaining better...I meant-

FUCK A REMAKE. DONT do DotD, do a NEW zombie film based in that Universe, culling the zombie stories from the BOOK OF THE DEAD anthology. It would be Creepshow(vignettes)crossed with the DEAD trilogy. Instead of one long film have it in 3 parts. "Meanwhile, elsewere..."

Eh, I've been against the idea of a Dawn of the Dead re-make since I first heard about it. Although I didn't like the picture as much as Day it's still a classic and I have no doubt it will be ruined. I don't understand why they must re-make a film instead of coming up with their own ideas about a group of people trapped in a mall and surrounded by the living dead, or buy someone else script that deals with the living dead. I'm so confused as to why everyone ignores the talent that's out in this world just to make half assed films that rip off each other because they think they'll appeal to this and that. It's been said before, money corrupts and when it's all said and done that's what it comes down to, but for Christ sakes they're so much undiscovered talent out their one must ask "how much longer do we have to put up with this shit?"
