Code Red DVD

They probably started a decade too late to stay in business, but Code Red DVD is unearthing all kinds of interesting shit. They put The Unseen (one of my favorite 80s mystery killer films) out a while back, and have recently uncovered the negative for this gem:

Is that giant monster menacing a giant woman...?

Warhawk Tanzania is what I will name my son one day.

Pic doesn't work. But they have CAN I DO IT TILL I NEED GLASSES! I can still sing that theme song.

Fixed!

The site is worth poking around. I keep having "Oh shit, THAT movie!" moments.

And yet it's called "Gang Wars." That's an unbelievably bland title for such a great poster.

Look at the credits - I'll bet it says "Devil's Express" on the actual print. These bottom-of-the-barrel cheapies would get retitled and sold to the same string of drive-ins over and over. It probably has three other titles. "Gang Wars" was probably its title in certain markets. Markets with black people in them.

I'm naming my first kid Warhawk Tanzania.

I highly recommend DEVIL TIMES FIVE. Fun little movie and the commentary is very good.

I DID name my 1st born Warhawk Tanzania. You snooze.

I do already own their The Fabulous Journey to the Center of the Earth on dvd.

GANG WARS looks like a must-see.

It's strange, I tried very hard to get review copies of Code Red's releases, but after two shipments they just stopped sending things. It's especially strange because they make the discs within minutes of my house. Oh well, at least I got a free copy of Devil Times Five and Don't Go In the Woods...Alone.

I've read that Code Red actually has a print of Joe Spinell's last flick The Undertaker. That's the flick I'm most looking forward to seeing them put out.

They also have The Mutilator, which is one of the best/worst slashers ever.

That poster is outstanding. Warhawk certainly gets the girl.

Yeah, it's the uncut print too. I've only seen the cut to ribbons vhs, and I'm not about to import the German release since they've got the uncut print.

I'm such a fan I have the uncut VHS (it was one of the few movies available in both rated and unrated versions on video) and the German DVD.

Hopefully they fix the lighting problem. The vhs was really dark.

Speaking of dark practically unwatchable vhs releases, Code Red should release a cleaned up dvd of Humongous.

They also have Nightmare Maker on their plate, which is one of the few Video Nasties I haven't seen yet.

It's a big ol' bag of crazy, Gabe.

When are they finally releasing Romano Scavolini's Nightmare? That was a nicely scuzzy Halloween knockoff that falsely claimed to have effects by Tom Savini in its ads.
