The Death of Brandon Lee.

I was always curious. Who actually fired the gun that killed Brandon Lee? Was it one of the actors in the film, or a stunt person?

Ah, Michael Massee. Thank you.

When I was a kid everyone thought I was named after him since my first name is Brandon and my second is Leigh (yes, like a girl). Of course, my parents didn't even know who he was because they're old. People thought I was really sad when he died.

I didn't even know it happened.

So, they loaded a dummy bullet into the gun for a close up. When they removed the dummy bullet, the tip lodged in the gun, but no one noticed. When the actor later fired the blank, the tip of the dummy bullet flew from the barrel and hit Brandon with enough force to kill him. Then, all the footage was quickly destroyed to prevent the studio from useing it in the actual film.

Wow, nothing strange going on there.

He was assassinated.

You've stumbled onto a conspiracy! Where was Woody Harrelson's dad when this shit went down? Blow the lid off this fucking thing!

Watch 'Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story' again sometime. Considering that the movie came out before Brandon Lee was killed, it's pretty scary. There's a ton of foreshadowing in that movie surrounding Brandon's death.
You should also watch RAPID FIRE. It doesn't really foreshadow Lee's death but it's a bitchin' flick.

It came out after; it was dedicated to him.

The Lee family were some unlucky muthafuckas.

No, I didn't know about it when I was a kid. I only found out because people thought I HAD TO KNOW! We did have the same name.

I've already got someone on the case. He'll find the real killer:

Really? I don't remember that dedication to Brandon at all in it, but I must admit that it's been a while since I've seen either film. According to IMDB, 'Dragon' was released in 1993 and 'the Crow' was 1994.

Dragon came out in 1993, right after Brandon Lee died making The Crow...which was filming in 1993.
Yeah, but Lee was dead by March of 1993; Dragon wasn't out yet.

Edit: Judas Dogpile!
Shannon Lee made the movie HIGH VOLTAGE with Antonio Sabato Jr. in 1997. That's 4 years after CURSE OF THE DRAGON.
I stand corrected. Thanks for the article, Misfit.

Judas! Do you want an appetizer?

*Edit: Sure thing.

Additional edit: Man, Kate Hodge was cute in Rapid Fire.

of Crow? no thank you, I'm currently buried underneath a dogpile (thanks, Phil).

Brandon Lee talked about how they asked him to play a "supporting role" in Dragon, but he declined, and had some sort of problem with the role he was asked to play. I always wondered if the role was John Saxon:

Not the best comparison shots, but I always thought there was a resemblance.
Thought I heard they wanted him to play Bruce at one point?
Nah, that was a goofy rumor. He doesn't even look Asian. (EDIT - But every reference-less trivia page on the web says it was offered to him. I recall an interview where it was described as I did above.)

He should have cameoed as David Carradine.

Or James Coburn.

Or James Garner.

Anybody have any other white actors they think Brandon Lee should have played in DRAGON? I know we're missing a few.
Dolph Lundgren
James Franciscus.
Steve Martin...Oh wait never mind. I thought I had seen something where he played an extra or some such.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Jim Kelly in the "Enter The Dragon" segment.
William Smith was up for Saxon's role at one point.
