Palin 2012 - Page 5

It will be interesting to see if anyone in the GOP organization signs on with her at any level (major contributor, campaign staff etc).
That depends on the kind of money Palin offers as far as campaign staff goes.
To be frank, ..and it's no different in the Democratic ranks...professional campaign people are pretty much available for hire to whoever in that party will pay the big bucks.

I doubt many of the big contributors are going to be writing checks for her, though. She's damaged goods, and they don't like throwing their money away. Milt or Huckabee are much better choices.

My god, there is a Sarahpac ad at the bottom of the CHUD page.
SOme of these google based ads can provide a lot of laughs just because they pop up in places that no targeted ad campaign would waste money on.

I really hope someone mentions the SarahPAC ad at some point throughout this thread.

Palin was selected as a running mate in an attempt to counter Obama's popular appeal. Since that failed, she is no longer of any value to the GOP as a candidate. Sure, she's intensely popular with those people who will already vote Republican anyway, but she's intensely disliked by the Dems and is mostly disliked by those who actually have to decide who they're going to vote for.

Her most valuable use by the GOP bigwigs is to get her to endorse the candidate they think can actually beat the Dems without saddling that candidate with her baggage in the general election. Personally, I just hope the wingnut goes away and I never have to see Paris Palin again.

I think it's clear that she doesn't have any competent speechwriters, strategists or PR people on staff right now.

I was going to make a joke about how if she did run she would automatically become a lame duck and have to resign but that 2012-2012 1/2 joke was much funnier (if inaccurate... it would really be 2012 - 2013 1/2)

No thoughts on her farewell speech today? Between yelling at the press to "quit making things up", complaining about "starlets" pushing for gun control (a swipe at Ashley Judd), and proclaiming "We eat, therefore we hunt", I don't even know where to begin.
There was a speech? All I heard was a toneless keening wail with a bunch of smirks.
If Palin and her family have eaten every single animal they've ever killed, I promise I'll vote for her in 2012.
I think Palin is actually being rather clever here. Seriously, she needs a confidence boost before she squares off against a heavyweight like Katie Couric again, and beating up on Ashley Judd might well be the boost she needs to be able to correctly respond when that liberal cunt Couric ambushes her with leftist shit like "What's your street address?" or "Who is hotter, Edward or Jacob?"
I long for a world where Sarah Palin is no longer being discussed by evil, left-wing mean, dog-gone liberal media. You Betcha!

I sense the snark, but I think a lot of the hardcore conservatives will actually believe this. "She can focus on studying for the presidency rather than running Alaska."

The fact remains that she will have an impossible time gaining enough votes from independents. She won't even get votes from a lot of Republicans other than the crazy base. Moderates won't vote for her like they didn't vote for McCain in 2008. I was a loose McCain supporter up until his pick of her, then he lost me.

I, along with a lot of moderate Republicans won't vote for her because she's a quitter. She walked out on her job for future political gain. She's a fucking disgrace.

I have a serious problem with people who attack her based on her personal life. I think her kids are off limits. That said, I think her political career is plenty of fodder to destroy her in a primary and definitely enough for the general. She won't get there though.

Just yesterday I spoke with too reasonably intelligent people, in separate conversations, who honestly think she is a viable candidate, and was smart to quit.

One person likes the fact they she has no ties to Special Interests AKA she is a Maverick!

You will see her get a rock solid majority amongst the Core of the GOP. This scares me

But...but... quitting makes her a trailblazer, doesn't it?

Oh, and that ties to special interests comment is fuckin' rich!

Unfortunately intelligence has absolutely no bearing on one's common fucking sense. The smartest guys in the room (to borrow a phrase) are very often remarkably wrong.

More on point, I am not nearly familiar enough with Alaska's ethics laws to judge whether or not the complaints against her are justified. My cursory knowledge of the hockey rink she built in Wasilla leads to be believe that they are; regardless, whether or not she finished her term as governor has absolutely no bearing on her qualification to be president. She represents a very particular and very dangerous brand of anti-intellectual populism that would speed this country without pause on a path into the gaping maw of fiery self-obliteration. The only thing she is qualified to lead is a senseless mob intent on violence, and she seems quite enthralled with the prospect.

She might get a lot of GOP support early on, but all those guys who patted her on the head like a little puppy after her nomination are now her competition, and they're going to fucking tear her apart.

So she has the majority support of a shrinking group of individuals.

I may come to eat these words, but I'm not scared of Palin being elected anywhere. She's a joke.

She'll probably do the talk show/book thing. She's a better looking Ann Coulter and that's it.

...And now William Shatner's take

Surely, that would make him look larger?

I think it's funny that she's complaining about the media coverage. She got virtually zero coverage in Alaska because, well, it's Alaska. Then she took the VP nomination, and suddenly all this stuff starts coming out, and her every word is scrutinized, and she finds herself having to defend almost every word and action. My advice to her is, "Welcome to big-time politics." If you think this is intrusive, wait until you run for president, and Jebus help you if you actually win.

When our little unincorporated area decided to become a city, my wife was trying to convince me to run for mayor or city council, and I considered it, but then I realized I didn't want a spotlight on myself, even if it is a little LED flashlight. And sure enough, there have been all kinds of "controversy" involving the mayor's office and the city council in the short two years we've been a city. Plus, even though it's small-time politics, almost all of these people are independently wealthy, which I think sucks because you'll probably never have a "regular" Jane or Joe in those positions.

Sarah divorcing Todd? "Affairs on both sides"? Juicy.

Great, something else she can quit.

Not that it matters now, but that was my lame reference to that Garbo (I think) quip. You know, when she said: I didn't get smaller, the movies did.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Palin plans to run during an apocalypse year?

This week, on Dynasty...

Sarah Palin 'had plans to adopt grandchild'

Quote:
Sarah Palin wanted to adopt her grandchild so people would not know her 17-year-old daughter was pregnant, the father of the child has said.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Levi Johnston said former Republican vice-presidential candidate Palin had a plan to deal with her daughter Bristol's pregnancy.

"Sarah kept mentioning this plan. She was nagging — she wouldn't give it up. She would say, 'So, are you gonna let me adopt him?' We both kept telling her we were definitely not going to let her adopt the baby. I think Sarah wanted to make Bristol look good, and she didn't want people to know that her 17-year-old daughter was going to have a kid," Mr Johnston told the magazine for its October edition. Excerpts of the interview were posted on the magazine's website on Wednesday.

Meghan Stapleton, Mrs Palin's spokeswoman, did not immediately respond to request for comment, but has previously discounted Mr Johnston's allegations. Mrs Palin has been keeping a low profile since she resigned on July 26 with more than a year left in her first term.

I can't stand Palin in the least, but that Vanity Fair article is TERRIBLE. It's like they just recorded whatever shit Levi Johnston came up with.
What are you talking about, Jake? If not for Levi's bravery Palin would still be a threat to the whole of civilization. We owe this man, nay, this hero, our eternal gratitude.
I wonder how much this guy is getting paid for these interviews.

All he can get, I guess. If I ever got my 15 minutes the way he did I'd milk them for all they're worth. Fuck, if anyone offered I'd even do porn. What's waiting for him down the line anyway?

Weeeeelll....

Kinda lolworthy:

Quote:
Sarah has a weird sense of humor. When she came home from work, Bristol and I would be holding Trig and Tripp. Sarah would call Trig—who was born with Down syndrome—"my little Down's baby." But I couldn't believe it when she would come over to us and sometimes say, playing around, "No, I don't want the retarded baby—I want the other one," and pick up Tripp. That was just her—even her kids were used to it.

He was given the name Trig Paxson Van Palin because Paxson was Todd’s favorite place to snow-machine in Alaska, and because of the rock band Van Halen.

Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston was born a month later, on December 27 at 5:43 a.m. (“Mitchell” is Todd’s middle name and “Easton” is for my favorite hockey-equipment company.)
