This is the comedy equivalent to the Broadway special that they did a few years back. Meaning that it's okay, but nowhere near the comprehensive look that the subject deserves -- which is saying something, because it's six hours long. It's focused on the 20th century for the most part, and I think this comes out of the stand-up history Ken Burns wanted to do. I would have much rather they focused on stand-up rather than try to look at comedy in movies, tv, etc. Or if you're going to talk about tv/movies, discuss how those were important in relation to stand-up.
Also, the DVD is oddly bleeped in some parts.
It's worth watching because of the people they interview and the stories told, but overall, a disappoinment.
