Now that I know what is going on, that strategy might be feasible in the normal version of that mission with only two people playing. The more people you have, the more enemies there are, and the advanced version of that mission is damned brutal even when you are being strategic. Charging up the hill would be impossible with all those gatling guns, cannons, and snipers.
I also like the end of the kidnapped girl mission where you have to make a stand at Farmer MacGuffiin's house (AKA Ridgewood Farm). Riding in on the wagon and trying to survive long enough to make it into the house while bullets whiz by is pretty intense, especially on the harder difficulty.
The mission where you are riding down the river to Nosalida is also a blast. Timing the shot on enemy rafts in order to blow the dynamite boxes is always satisfying. I had a magic run on the raft last night where I was able to get the achievement for a 10 kill chain in an advanced mode mission. Somehow I was able to snipe a bunch of guys on the shore, and the last guy in the group ended up being the tenth kill in the chain. In other advanced missions, I was lucky to get a 5 kill streak going before getting killed.
Hell, now that I think about it, the herding mission is the only one I don't particularly like, but even it has some worth to it. The long ride to Armadillo while you are trying to keep the cattle under control while wave after wave of rustlers attack you is fun to a point, but it can be really frustrating if you don't have someone who is good at herding in your group.
I think the one thing about these missions that makes them even better is taking away the ability to respawn. It keeps you more alert, and the times when one member of the team has to rush in to revive a teammate adds a nice layer of tension. Also, jabbing a syringe into your buddy's chest (back, leg, ass, or wherever else the animation makes it appear to go) is perhaps more fun than it should be. I think that if these missions had infinite respawns it would take something away from the experience that would leave them feeling a bit hollow.
I have a feeling that I will be playing these missions for quite a while, mostly to complete the large list of challenges that come with them. I had hoped we would be able to unlock more titles with this DLC, but it doesn't look like that will be the case. Oh well. The missions are still a ton of fun to play.
