I don't think I'll care for the steampunk vehicles late in the game. The early autos I can understand, but that hovercraft seems to take it a step too far.

I could deal with steampunk hands, giant fire-breathing girder spiders and a gatling gun saddle-mount for your horse (or buffalo, whichever you choose to tame), but personal radios? That kinda shit just ruins the immersion.

I read that it's actually a pretty straight western for the first half of the game ... until you stumble upon this item:

Rockstar knows that superpowers, rocket trains, ninjas and zombies are what any old west game should be all about.

Interestingly enough, you pretty much just described RED STEEL 2 to perfection. For realz. Kate needs to stay far, far away from that game.

I think it's really cool that the are making a Dark Tower game but really shitty that they've had to hide that part in the marketing. I was reading over at King's blog about how, much like Ebert, he's into the whole videogames aren't art thing and that it's bullshit that his publisher allowed the license to be sold and he was able to prevent it being pimped as a Dark Tower game and blah blah blah.

Fuck it. I trust Rockstar. Maybe they'll even make the ending to the game better than the ending to the books. Not like King gives a fuck, right? And it makes all the steampunk stuff make sense, kinda, if you think about it.

The sodomy is still a bit rough. I haven't seen any of the previews mention it, but can you, uh, "retaliate" on those who have visited such assfuckery upon you? That would be hardcore, but Rockstar's got the balls to do it...

That mission's DLC. The "So The Goat Will Push Back" pack will be out in July.

...reading this Guardian preview got me so excited that, no shit, my vision actually blurred for a second and my eyes involuntarily rolled back into my head.

I pre-ordered the game today.. I've never done that before.

So how do you redeem the free stuff for pre- ordering? I did it at Gamestop since I had a fee games I wanted credit for. Do you get a special code or something?

I go through EB Games here in Australia and they always provide a code.

Apparently my preorder extra I get an exclusive 'mini-guide' to the game so I'm guessing that'll be in booklet form.

On top of that tho, I've also ordered the Collectors Edition and with that I get

I canceled my preorder today, after reading in the new Gamespot Preview that you can, in fact, pull the entire moon out of orbit to destroy concealed enemies.

I didn't realise the game was set in the 1900's until I read that preview, can't wait to see how the encroachment of technology on the West plays out. Although the cars will probably be slower than the horses.

The ecosystem sounds like it could the ideal shot in the arm for the slighty tired Rockstar sandbox genre.

Does it make me weird that I read all these posts about rape and sci-fi elements, and kind of got excited, only to be disappointed when I realized the joke?

Beat me zak! Yeah, sounds incredible.

FFS. Every time I think this game has reached it's hype potential with me they stick me with something else that gets me excited all over again. At this point I may do the Amazon Prime trial just to make sure I have this on the release date.

This is seriously shaping up as the sandbox game I'd hoped Fallout 3 was going to be but fell short of (for me anyway). I can see myself just wasting hours roaming the plains and admiring the world.
