Dead Rising 2

*Cough*

Oh, shit. It's happening again. Thank you, Capcom.
I hope it's a lot better than the first one.
Bring it on.
A casino? I would have liked something just a bit more serious like a a town to explore similar in size to the one in the first.
Maybe you have the whole of Las Vegas to explore, and not just one casino.
Dead Rising remains one of my favorite 360 titles. Bring it.
Why would you want something more serious zombie? The entire tone of dead rising was quite tongue in cheek, and people seemed to respond to it. If anything, I see the series getting more cheeky and the Atlasphere clip seems to reinforce that notion.
Im all for goofiness, I would just like to see it tackle a large outdoor setting. It just seems limiting to be confined to a large structure again.

So many things they touched on in the first game would translate amazing to a suburb type setting. The driving, while fun in the first, would be a blast when youve got actual streets/yards/sidewalks to plow through. The day/night would be amazing. Perhaps maybe only being able to find some survivors if lights in a house are on. But really, i just want an opportunity to hop on a riding lawn mower or a combine and run over some zombies.
Confined spaces tend to be an easy way to create tension.
Yep, this hasn't been a super well kept secret.

FYI, unless something has changed (and that's very possible) it's not Vegas. Last time I talked to Capcom folks about it (about a year ago) the setting was a different gambling town.

Will there be more than one save room?
Monte Carlo!

Since they've changed that for the Wii edition of the first game, more than likely.
Kotaku is reporting it as 'official' now. I'm just glad it's coming out for PS3 as well.

Interesting tidbit from that article:

Quote:
As we had heard long ago, Dead Rising 2 is being developed in partnership with Canadian developer Blue Castle Games as well as a number of members from the original Dead Rising team, including Keiji Inafune, who as the game's Producer, will play an active role in the project.
I'm glad it's being handled by a more Western developer this time. The first one really annoyed me trying to play a really western zombie concept filtered through a Japanese lens but then set back in the US. Hopefully this one will feel less 'off.'

Apologies if it seems like I post about nothing but zombie games. It's all coincidental.
I loved the original, but if the save system/time limit isn't changed I won't be that excited.
I'd love the game more if I never had to use a camera in it. What is this, Pokemon Snap or something?
When is the first Dead Rising coming out on PS3?
It's not.
I think the rumours were based around a DR title coming out for the PS3 last year, and everyone assumed it was the original. I think this sequel's probably what they were talking about.

Amen. Great game crippled by stupid choices.
I loved the time limit. I can always appreciate a game that decides to flick you in the balls once in a while with some insane hardness. Doesn't happen enough these days.
No there isn't. There's no reason to have a game be ball shatteringly difficult. Otherwise you aren't going to enjoy it and just say fuck it.
I'm going to assume you didn't like Ninja Gaiden and you don't play L4D in Expert. There is an audience for hard gaming. It just might not be you.
Why do people think the first Dead Rising is so difficult? I'm a little bit better than your average gamer (marginally) and I beat it with relative ease. I don't remember once saying, "God, this saving system sucks!" Oh well, maybe I just didn't notice it and if I replayed I'd hate it.

I can't freakin' wait for this regardless.
Probably completists who couldn't save a couple of people here and there. If it's your first time and you stick to the main storyline with a couple of side quests here or there you'll be fine. If you try and save everyone and do everything you're SCAAAAAARWED.
Dead Rising is the only game I got every achievement on. I think it's more a testament to the fact that I was sick for a week and did nothing but play Dead Rising and I became a bit obsessed, actually. I wish I had the foresight to have done it on my 360 though, not my roommates.
Same thing happened to me. It put the zombie mojo on me.
Yeah the save system was limiting, but the fact that you could start over with all your stats made it seem easy.
My favorite game (ever) is getting a sequel. So pumped. And unlike Resident Evil 5, there's probably a good chance I won't be completely disgusted while trying to enjoy myself with this game.

I know ill make every effort i can to spare every other ethnicity other than Caucasian.
Retarded.
I just dont want to be labled as anything. So ill stay safe and just kill zombies of my own race...
I absolutely agree with you on that! I cant wait to get my hands on this one! I will be getting RE5 as well anyway. You can stereo type me as the zombie that wrecks vettes!
Whoa, whoa, whoa! You're telling me that even zombiefan61 is excited about a new Dead Rising game. WOW!
Just sucks that it isn't Frank West, at least not from what the screenshots indicated. And as much as I didn't hate the time limit in the first, i'd still love if there was none this time around.
I'm sure we'll get another hilarious American stereotype to replace Frank... the new guy already looks like Johnny McDouche. The thick-as-a-brick criticism of US commercialism and thuggishness was part of DR's charm. Even with the move to a western studio, the main character and Vegas setting look to be keeping that ideology alive.

As for the time limit... the time limit -makes- the game. It forces you to make hard decisions about your priorities and who lives and who dies. It's part of the tension of the game that not only is the zombie horde creeping up on you, but so is time itself. Personally, I hope they make the time aspect a much bigger part of the game. Choices that matter thrill me, and they're why DEAD RISING is to me the best JRPG ever made.
I agree, Farsight. Resource and time constraints were integral to making Dead Rising more than just a mall zombie simulator. The controls still sucked, though, and there's no excusing that.
I didn't mind the controls. I'm sad Frank West isn't returning though. In the trailer you see a quick flash of Frank in Megaman armor watching some choppers fly by, but I think that's from the first one.

I'm not jazzed to play as Mr. Xtreme. I'll miss the camera too. It was neat to look in your photo album and take a trip down memory lane. The only thing I hated about the time limit was that it made it near impossible to save everybody.

at least the sense of humor hasnt left the series, even on the wii
post #42 of 60
Recent comments from the developer indicate multiplayer is a go, as are up to 6000 (!?!) zombies on-screen at once.

I hate having to be patient!

New trailer showing a wee bit of gameplay, which was shown at Capcom's Captivate09 and at the Microsoft press event in Japan this week, apparently goes up on Live 4/29. Lead character's name is Chuck Greene.
I know it's wrong, but I hope a version shows up on YouTube sooner than that because I'm totally excited for anything about this game.
They're going to need better AI for the survivors in this one. If someone I'm escorting dies, it needs to be because I had my attention elsewhere or we were overwhelmed. Not because they decided to jog in front of a wall, stand there like an idiot, or completely ignore my pleas to move their asses to the door. Maybe a cattle prod should be introduced in this one.

Just saw the trailer at Kotaku. Sense of humor completely intact. Love the new "weapons" the show. Opens up a whole new can of worms. I'm pumped for MVC2 just as much as the next guy, but it's too bad there's gonna be a ton of new info on this and LP2 today and its going to be completely overshadowed. Oh well.

New (very funny) trailer. Looks awesomes. I'm totally up for more mindless zombie squashing.

Edit: Dang it. Beat. Still, good news in my book.

I am saddened by the lack of a release timeframe for this. I know they said in an interview that it'd be out by the end of March 2010, but gimme some more info! Fuck Dark Void!
