Rejoice! McFarlane is back! - Page 2

I'd have said either a radioactive John "Johnny Wad" Holmes or Jamie Gillis myself. Anywho, betcha the (in)action figure from McFarlane Toys will be all sticky regardless, as well as the pages to issue #1.

With great power cums.

Better atleast, but I still can't believe Spewn is real.
Spewn wins it.
Usual shit. He gets no money from me - ever.
This really should have been posted in the "The fact that this exists is hilarious" thread.

But props guys, you've redeemed this shit even existing.

Fanboys will find a way to be upset when the movie version of this comes out, featuring orgasmic web shooters.

He is drawing interiors on Image United (which is written by Kirkman, and drawn by McFarlane, Portacio, Larsen, Valentino, Liefeld and Silvestri), though. See below.

And in 90's Image fashion, the book probably won't show up for another 5 years.

Any reason why Lee doesn't make an appearance?

Isn't he 'working' on that DCU MMO game ? Doing the art design or something. Though I doubt he is doing more than providing some design sketches.
So the DCU MMO is going to feature only two character models then: male and female. And you'll only be able to tell characters apart by their costumes.
All that money does not spend itself. He is hard at work.
Jim Lee won't be involved because he no longer owns the WildC.A.T.S. or any related characters. He sold them to DC.
And DC wanted them because...what, they make Booster Gold look good?
I think they bought the entire Wildstorm universe just so Jim Lee would agree to draw Batman.
I thought they bought them to get Alan Moore back a while ago, but I could be wrong.
Actually they were afraid Alan Moore would jump ship from ABC when they bought Wildstorm. Not sure if he owned the characters or if Wildstorm did. I know he took League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to a new publisher when he did close-up shop on the rest of ABC.

First issue was interesting. The design of the hero is awful, but the plot seems promising. The lead is an asshole-ish priest possessed by his mercenary brother. The narrative from Cappullo is great. The inking over Ottley is 50/50. The dirty style looks great in some scenes and terrible in others (clashing too much with Ottley's clean style).

The book outsold Spider-man, so i assume it was a hit.

I'll read another issue or two to see if it will hold up.

On Lee:

Quote:
"The artist (Jim Lee) was asked if he'd be involved in "Image United," the upcoming Image Comics crossover miniseries that features artwork from Image founders Erik Larsen, Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane, Whilce Portacio, Marc Silvestri, and Jim Valentino. "I've been talking with them about being involved somehow, but there are certain hurdles I'd have to jump to make that happen," Lee said, hinting that his status as the WildStorm chief could hold him back from getting involved in the project."

A Priest who swears and fucks whores is possessed by the ghost of his government super assassin brother and cum shoots out of his face and turns him into Spider-man so he can rip the heads off of the government spooks hunting him. Also the Priest hated his super assassin brother because they both fell in love with the same woman at some point and the super assassin brother was the one she picked.

Its filled with everything a twelve year old would find edgy but it is Mcfarlane so you already knew that. Although the cum blasting Spider-Man aspect of the book makes it impossible for a twelve year old to take it seriously.
Cum blasting Spider-Man is a subtle symbol of much more virile he is than his celibate brother. This will connect with horny, masturbating 12 year olds who shoot cum into a tube sock every day. But the joke's on McFarlane- 12 year olds don't read comics anymore lol.
Only thirty eight year olds with the minds of twelve year olds... hence it is a hit!

Issue #2's out, and all McFarlane talks about in the blurb near the back is how the 1st issue sold out and how they had to rush to get more printed, blah, blah, blah. I was trying to put my thumb on why this book was bad. There are all of the things that are mentioned here, but I think in general, it's that their trying to tell what could have been a decent story with completely gimped art direction. Had the art direction and character art concepts been abandoned for something more original, I dunno, this would be middling-to-good on my nerdom scale.

The writing is not terrible. Possession as a character mechanic is cool, and they could have gone in a lot of different directions with it. Ditto the secret paranormal-paramilitary org the dead brother belongs to. Ditto the priest angle. But it's like they all sat down and went "How can we make another Spawn? Kids these days have short attention spans, perhaps we don't have to think that hard about this after all..."

"The writing is not terrible" pretty much sums up Kirkman. At his best he's a middling writer.
