Now the part I completely don't understand is this;

Thread title made me think Shadowrun was bleeding over into the real world.

And yes, there are those who are against GMO's to this degree, obviously. Climate change is likely to make such a position even more untenable unless they're willing to see a massive die off of humanity for the sake of wrongheaded principles.

22 years is only a small portion of an Elf's life, relatively.

What is the usual sentence for arson that doesn't result in death, only property damage? The guy who informed on her's reduced deal was 9.
