not to pimp Ain't It Cool or anything, i recommend checking it out, it actually sounds like it has some promise and doesn't sound like a remake (which it shouldn't be).

Reading between Harry's usual love it/hate it polarised opinions, it does sound like a pretty good zombie movie. But I definitely agree that it ain't Dawn Of The Dead. That name only has pulling power to a core of horror fans - and they're going to know that this ain't Dawn. So why not just change the title - it's not like they'll be losing any great marketing angle.

because they have the rights to the name, and it has zombies and a mall in it.

(i'm trying to get into the studio suit mindframe here...)

I'm fairly convinced that studio people are out of touch with everything. I think, that in their mind they're using the Dawn name to rope in fans of the original. They'll use the name and make an entirely different movie, yet they're sure that legion of Romero fans will stand in line for this.

They're wrong, and they aren't listening to the fans because the money's been spent.

I know I won't see it.

A decent script review, and remembering the hatred he had for 'Scooby Doo', any praise on this one means it's probably pretty damn good. Because of that, I have a feeling the studios are going to bend it over and shove many painful things in it's ass until it doesn't even resemble the script Harry read.

Just a thought.

Great, another microcosm-of-society-stuck-in-a-seige-mentality-style picture. Sounds like Ghosts of Mars with a bigger cast...

Great script, but I didn't have to know about the dogs.

To be fair to the guy, that explanation could apply to any of the original Dead movies, so he's hardly stepping out of line by reusing the motif.

Indeed, but it's been reused so ampley since 1969 that while it's a tried and true formula, I'd hope for something a little more innovative for the 21st Century. I await proof of wrongnesseses, however...

I just think that to remake a Romero zombie film, even as loosely as this one, and not use that formula would take it even further from source.

My big doubt comes from whether Gunn has done anything fresh with the set-up.

I expect that was what I was intimating...I guess...kinda...sorta. Type thing.

Will there be boobies though ?

Script does sound vaguely interesting. Still no indication about whether the director has the first clue about how to direct zombies (which let's face it, will make or break this film)... Getting zombies right doesn't just mean the makeup, it's in the little details, everything from the way they shuffle and claw at people to the variation in clothes/body types etc.

Plus overall as a concept, I'm still more interested in 28 Days Later.

This ain't a comment about the remake, but have got a very general question.

Why would 2 guys from the ex-swat teams not take out every zombie for a mile radius with their rifles instead of taking a chance like they did and Roger got bit?

It's not like they didn't have the ammo or the skills?

Maybe lack of brain power?

I'd rather see a sequel to "dawn" like what happens to the girl and the guy who gets away in the chopper

I know, I know it a horror movie and it ain't suppose to make sense. But what I'd really like is a apocalyptic Zombie movie with people who actually really try to survive and not take chances and not fall catatonic each time they see a zombie ya know wink

Cheers!

There must be. Boobies make horror films good.

I've always wanted to see a follow-up of what happened to Ken Foree's character... would be very cool now that he's aged.

And fill in all the boring talking bits in between all the butts and grue ?
Or maybe a great Zombie rape scene. eek!

Maybe I could be a soft porn Zombie movie

Yes I am a very sick HellSpawn wink

I wonder how many smilies can I put in one post

Cheers!

Bobbies do not make a great horror film. Bobbies help a bad horror film look better.
No, Bobbies is the plural of Bobs. Boobies, on the other hand, make horror good.

I gotta agree with ya there.

About the script, it seems like it could be a fun movie...but it sure as hell is NOT a remake. It's just a zombie movie that is borrowing heavily HEAVILY from Dawn of the Dead. So much that they even take it's name...but it's not the same movie.

Well, if I can't stop this picture from being made, then I might as well be a zombie. I wonder if it's going to be filmed in the same mall and location.
