LOST --- Season 5 Spoiler Thread

If this thread dies, it dies. But the last few pages in the general show discussion thread have started to take a heavy turn into spoiler territory via links and what people have read on other message boards. I believe LOST thrives on the surprise elements of the show along with the characterization, but I still want to be able to discuss the show after it airs with other people who don't want have anything upcoming spoiled either.

I think the rules for posting in here as opposed to the other thread is simple: If it hasn't aired, it goes in here.

Everything else, as far as theorizing and guessing about what might happen in the future of the show, is fair game in the regular thread as long as those theories don't stem from spoilers.

Sorry for the links from yesterday but the header was pretty explicit and I didn't read it.

Maybe this is arguable, but I don't consider most (maybe any) of the EW stuff spoiler-y. Almost all of it's speculation.

The link I accidentally read in the other thread (not sure if the above one is it since its broken) had very specific episodes and dates for when and how very important events will happen on the show. I consider that extremely spoilery.

I guess my position is that if the writers or producers are offering it up freely, they're pretty confident that the info won't ruin the show for you. But I can see how some might disagree.

There are people, such as myself, who don't go out of their way searching for LOST discussions or news items so they can enjoy the show and be surprised as it airs. People have varying degrees on what they consider spoilers, and I think it's a good idea to separate the discussions to avoid confusions and annoyance. The current thread has turned into a minefield of potential spoilers and here's a place to openly discuss all of it.

There can't be any complaining in this thread because you're coming in with an understanding that you will be reading spoilers. It's not going to stop someone who's intent on being an asshole, but at least for us weekly LOST watchers there will be a safe haven for us to discuss what we just saw.

Seconded.
Re Diva: At the beginning of the article it's written The action being shot for the year's 12th episode is almost spoilerifically indescribable, so, sorry again but I don't know how this caught you off guard. And the title is INSIDE SEASON 5!

Also, maybe it wasn't as clear as it could have been, but the bits on the futures of individual characters is totally EW-devised. It's not really any different than one of us speculating in the other thread.

Stuff like this...

Quote:
In the Feb. 11 episode, the nosebleeds-and-brain-scrambling time-travel sickness takes a deadly turn. In episode 7, airing Feb. 25, we'll find out not only how Locke got off the Island but how he wound up in the coffin as well.
...is a little too specific for me. It's not speculating on what could happen. It's telling you exactly what will happen and when.

I tend to skim EW articles late at night as they are too dense to get through during work. And the line you quoted made me think they were going to avoid talking about the 12th episode specifically, not that they would then discuss every episode leading up to that one in detail.

All in all, these aren't the worst things to be spoiled on.

Exactly. The "nosebleeds taking a deadly turn" might mean that someone will face death or it might mean that someone will die (the word should have been "fatal," if the writer wanted to erase ambiguity). And it might not be anyone we care about, anyway - it could be a flash to the 80s when Rousseau's crew starts dying off.

And Locke getting off the island and ending up in the coffin? Well, we knew it was going to happen this season, and it wouldn't even have been too hard to nail down the episode at least a week in advance when the preview would inevitably make it clear that Locke would be the next episode's focus. We still don't know how any of it actually happens.

I understand being wary of spoilers, but these just barely qualify.

LOST hysteria at its worst:

"Christ, we need answers!"

or

"Dammit, don't tell me we're going to get answers! Gah!"
I'm sorry, but part of the fun of this show is the element of surprise. Telling me generally that we're going to get answers this season is one thing. Giving the date in which specific questions will be answered is quite another.

If EW wrote that "in the Feb. 4th episode Jin returns", they didn't give away "how it happened" but they sure do spoil a big surprise. Obviously we have a difference of opinion. But knowing that the 06 will all return to the island by Episode 12 kills the tension for me and confirms my speculation that the gang won't reunite until late in the season.

I am an insatiable spoilerhound. I really think the surprise comes in how all the stuff comes together. Like, I like knowing when certain characters will return.
For example, Abaddon and Walt will be back for the 7th episode, The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham.
I do, however, regret seeing the photo of Jack&co. in Dharma uniforms, at a pristine Otherville, presumably in the 70's. Or the casting report for adult versions of Aaron and Ji Yeon.
Yeah....

Actually, they reunite waaaaaaay(I mean way) earlier than that. But this is the spoiler thread, so I hope you're prepared to know that. I'm out of here too because the spoilers that have so far been posted are as much as I know.

The smoke monster is on manana.

Oh, hey, speaking of Smokey, it's baaaack, next episode. Titled, appropriately enough, This Place is Death! It attacks the Frenchies!

Ha, holy shit, the episode 13 title is the weirdest ever: Some Like it Hoth.

And episode 14 is called The Variable, focusing on The Adventures of Desmond and Daniel in Time.
