Fox could be shopping around to make Disney up the price.

The talks are back on, with Comcast and Sony also entering the war.

The big issue here is Fox’s 30% property of Hulu, of which Comcast and Disney own 30% each.
If Disney wins, they end up with the x-men and FF rights AND control over Hulu.

No, because then they'd own Wizards of the Coast and I don't want to see Fantasy Flight Games lose the Star Wars tabletop game license.

YES.
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. Fall 2019. All CGI film, classic designs and not a human character whatsoever onscreen.
Trivia: During the glorious scene were Metroplex punches Megatron into debris, animators put in a single frame were Megatron is in his Bayformers form. Just as the third punch destroys him.
Transformers fans love it.

Good point.

The 60 billion deal may be done by the end of the week.

Disney would be buying everything FOX except Fox News, Fox sports and their broadcasting Network

Barry Woodward will be very happy.

Usually I’d be against this kind of thing.

But no, I want Wolverine and Cap onscreen together.

And getting the Fox Fanfare back on Star Wars movies!

And maybe Disney will mercy kill The Simpsons and cancel Family Guy

And Modern Family.

Can't wait for Disney to welcome Kurt Sutter into the family.

Yes. Yes, I can.

Give me them OT unaltered blus and I, for one, welcome our new Mouse overlords.

I give it a few years before the planet is bought out and renamed Disney World

Ugh...  Despite how this is all... Horrible, I can't help but think... The MCU is going to get Doctor Doom done right.

Movie geeks, man.  We really fucked up this time.

I mean, on the one hand Disney are getting a lot of things that at this point they probably should have (i.e. the missing Marvel, Star Wars rights). On a strategic level it certainly makes sense.

On the other hand they're getting a whole lot of things they either don't need or would probably be better off kept away from (the Alien series comes to mind).

Though I guess if they keep 20th Century Fox around as an outlet for more adult orientated stuff, outwardly things might not change that much in practice.

Either way I suspect it won't take too long to make the investment back.

Is it too late to put the 20th Century Fox fanfare in front of TLJ?

I said this in the other thread, but yeah, if they're buying the rights to the Fox name as well, then that gives them a lot of options to reboot/redo things like Alien.

I wonder if, privately, someone is making overtures to Jason Blum to come run Fox.

At this point I'd rather see fans handle Alien and give us DisneyAlien than more Ridley fumbling.

Let's have an ALIEN/AVATAR crossover.

RIP Fox.

If only it were RIP Fox News.

Fox News is just gonna rebrand as The Ministry for Propaganda and Enlightenment.

I honestly think - especially since Disney now has National Geographic back from the Murdochs - this may be part of stage 1 by the Murdoch sons to kill Fox News.

Also, all of this needs to be approved by regulators, and we saw how well that worked out for Time Warner.

That's what I'm wondering too, Boone.  What are the odds that the regulators might kill this deal?

It depends on how pissed our Tweeter in Chief is at ABC or Bob Iger (for quitting his commission) on any particular day.

That being said, the Democratic Party is moving towards making stricter antitrust regulation and breaking up monopolies a cornerstone of their political platform, so that could very easily be a thing.

This Disney/Fox merger isn't anything worth celebrating. So fucking what that Wolverine can now say "Sup?" to Iron Man. The studio-system as me know it has been dying a slow death for quite some time. Fox was one of the few left standing. I've heard many counter how Fox could be Disney's Miramax/Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures. Disney owned those... and let them die. Fox will follow suit.

We can do both.

My head says it's a bad thing but my heart wants to watch all my favorite superheroes go "pew pew pew" together.

Iger isn’t ruling out a place for edgier stuff. He knows as long as there’s demand, there’s business.

Keep the Fox name. Give me R-rated material. Seriously, get me on the phone about my idea for a sixth Die Hard.

oh god disney owns fight club now

Deadpool is going to absolutely go to town on the MCU and I sort of can't wait.

It is kind of gross seeing people on my fb feed jumping up and down about corporations making even more money.
