Survivor: Tocantins - Page 2

There is no doubt, Coach is a phenom. Last night he really stepped up and impressed me. I'm hoping for some good, old-fashioned paranoia in the next couple weeks. If he lasts, which admittedly seems unlikely, he could rival my favorite Survivor of all time, Shane (he was in the season with Cirie, I forget where they were-he made himself a blackberry out of driftwood).

Erinn was edited to be a bitch last night, but I don't think she was really being one. However, this does not bode well for her future in the game.

They would have been retarded to keep the sick guy on the team. He wasn't going to get any better.

Shane was pure entertainment.

Shane rocked. Didn't he say something like he smoked five packs a day and then went cold turkey when they abandoned ship? Heh. That had to suck. But one of my favorite Survivors ever.

I did not like Coach much until last night. The evil Erin face [that he had worked on!] was too hilarious. And calling people my little Asssistant Coach is priceless. Hoping he lasts as long as he keeps entertaining me.

Still not sold on Taj. Yes, she seems nice enough. And yes, she seems to be plotting well. But I have always had a problem [as do most of the contestants] about people that "don't need the money". As far as they go, she might be the worst example yet. A quick check of wikipedia shows that; she was a member of SWV [third-highest selling R&B group in history], she's married to a former NFL megastar, they own a few resturants, a large architecture firm, and have both been on a few reality shows before. She is scheduled to tour reading the Vagina Monologues this summer. In short, they are far from needy. I dunno, takes a lot away from her winning. Yay...the rich got richer, as opposed to someone who really needs it doing all they can to claim the prize.

This isn't Charity Survivor. Whomever "outwits, outplays, outlasts" deserves to win. That said, even if she got to the final tribal council, her financial status will most likely play a role in her not winning. I don't think anyone who has owned up to their successful financial situation has ever won.

I don't know, Taj used the twist of exile to her advantage and, depending on whatever other twists that might happen, secured herself with at least two members of the other tribe (Brendan & Sierra). I'm not really sure I trust her own trust in Stephen though since I think Stephen's likely more loyal to J.T.
What is it with this show and 'professionals' like athletes and soldiers dropping like flies? Talk about anticlimactic!

I too love Coach, the guy is so witless.

That's another thing I've noticed about Survivor, how the gung-ho characters always end up on the losing team. I started watching this show since Cook Islands and off the top of my head I can remember that Rocky dude from Fiji, and the other muscle guy from a few seasons back who dragged Chet (most pathetic player ever) around like a toy in a random challenege. Makes it that much more entertaining to watch these guys blow off steam or go insane.

Dont let me down Coach.

I was hoping Sandy would stick around a little longer. Although I can do without her talking about taking off panties.

Brandon is a complete moron. The fact that he couldn't find a way to talk to Sierra in 3 days was definitely a warning sign. But the preview for next week shows he's terrible at keeping a secret as well.

In the future, any time I need to distract myself from, well, impending release, I will simply think of Sandy saying that and all will be well. So, so awful. It gave me a heapin' scoop of the heebies to go with the jeebies she generally gives me.
Does Sierra ever wear pants? Not that I'm complaining, but still.

Sandy was a crazy old coot and a potential loose cannon, so I can see why they got rid of her.

Next week, it looks like Taj paints a giant target on her back.
When does the merge usually come - around 10 people? They are at 12 right now. If they can just keep Team Secret secret for a few at least a week, they'll be solid. But it looks like that's not gonna happen. I'm curious though, does it matter. Taj and Brandon both have immunity necklaces. I can't remember, did Sierra ever find hers?

Also, WWTDD.com is reporting that Jenna Morasca (youngest Survivor winner and former Playboy playmate) is joining TNA Wrestling. Her debut is March 12th on Spike TV.

So . . . spent that million dollars wisely, eh?
I don't know what was worse with that old woman: her talk of panties, the Rainman-like way she chanted "Fartin' beans -- fartin' beans -- fartin' beans," her creepy bleached dentures, or that image of her in a bikini sitting in a shallow creekbed. I think the bikini wins out.

Glad Sandy is gone. Coach continues unabated. I had high hopes for the secret alliance. Too bad it looks like they (Brandon) fuck it up. Although sometimes people are just too dumbass to believe what's right in front of their face on Survivor, so maybe it will limp along to success.
Yeah, just because we see them talking about the secret alliance doesn't mean it actually gets outed.
And I have to say that sending one from each tribe to Exile is the show's best 'twist' in a while.

Know what I liked? When they went to steal two items from the losing tribe, whatsisname smartly didn't take all the food. Too many SURVIVOR contestants have never seen the show, and he's aware that they could be flopping teams any moment.

Even if the alliance isn't outed, TJ is suspicious enough to talk to other people about Brendan's trustworthiness. Which means, that if Brendan isn't smart enough to calm TJ and Coach worries, he could easily be blindsided at Tribal without ever playing his immunity. That said, I think its unlikely, because I don't think Sierra and Erin would vote him out.

I like this twist too, but am not sure sure not taking all the food was a smart move. Definitely its wise to think about the possibility of swapping tribes. But in the meantime, they could have done some serious damage by depleting the other teams moral and resources, likely sending them to Tribal Council again and again.

I didn't realize there was a person named Spencer on the show until tonight.

Liked the Sit N Spin challenge.
yeah i still don't know half their names and every episode i see someone i don't recognize.

Geezus did Probst make a big deal about the tooth.

What the hell was up with Taj? why the outbreak?

The previews last week indicated that one of the secret four blurts out the secret alliance and tells someone else/other people. It didn't even come close to happening.
Like I said earlier in the thread, its hard to keep track of people until its down to a manageable size. I knew Spencer was around, but since he doesn't contribute that much in challenges and has zero personality, I really didn't care about him.

The show loves to edit things out of context* so Taj's outbreak may seem out of nowhere, but you could see her frustrating mounting in the challenge. And there definitely had to have been something that when down post reward and pre-challenge because they were setting up that Joe and Taj hadn't talked once even in the earlier setting.

*A friend of mine was on Survivor a few seasons ago. He was edited as the lazy black guy. He said the show literally took footage from days/weeks apart and put them in the same episode as if they happened back to back.

No, but Coach T.J. Mackey and Tyson are both on to the secret alliance, and Joe is now actively targeting Taj for her ill-timed outburst, so the alliance is on somewhat shaky ground now.
That was an entertaining episode. Call me immature, but watching people stumbling around and looking like they're going to throw up during the Sit'n'Spin challenge is hilarious.

And, man, is this show glorious in hi-def.
JT was the best. He literally had to bend over to stop himself from tipping over.
I was sorta bummed that they tied them to the sit-n-spin post. I would have enjoyed watching someone fly off that thing.

I'm liking this season. The secret alliance is a great strategy, but the fact that several others are already picking up on it is even cooler. I'm as big a fan of blindsides as the next guy, but seeing that most of them are playing smart [so far] is making for good TV. Looks like this season the 'out wit' gameplan is in effect. And some seasons it's been sorely missed.
I'd like the show to air more of the interactions after folks get back from Exile because how they handle that could make or break the alliance. For instance, Brendan could alleviate all the suspicion around him if when he gets backs to camp he chats up his other tribe members and let them in on stuff. Not the alliance obviously, but he could reinforce that while he has no choice in going, he's been using that time to gather dirt on the other tribe and then he could throw some tidbits to his tribemates to sate their curiosity. But I would be suspicious too, if you spent more time with the other tribe than your own and you haven't made an effort to alleviate my concerns that you haven't a) found the idol or b) made an alliance because that is the first thing I'll suspect.
Hey, this show is finally back. Great episode too. I'ts so unusual for people to play smart on this show that when it happens, it's kind of jarring.
I can't wait for Joe to find out his immunity idol is fake.
The look on Joe's face when Sydney was voted out was priceless. And yeah, I can't wait to see if he plays the idol.

Looks like a merge is coming next week. Should make for an interesting time as Coach gets to annoy the shit out of a whole new tribe.
Oh yeah! They're gonna be shocked when they see what he's like! I hope he gets very dickish cocky about tribal lines and some shit. I can't but help thinking Joe is going home though.
At first I was annoyed they hadn't booted Erinn yet, but she's actually kind of hot, which sort of makes up for being an ass.
The previews seem to indicate that Brendan might betray Taj or something, which would kind of suck. At this point, the winner will probably be Tyson or JT.
I can't remember ever seeing a season of Survivor where so many people were playing smart. Almost everyone has some sort of game plan that doesn't totally suck. People are making good strategic decisions left and right. They're thinking ahead, and foreseeing possible problems. Add one of the better jackasses the show has ever had (Coach) and I'm quite pleased. Especially in that most of this intrigue is being generated by the cast and not odd "twists".
While I don't want his douchey ass to win, I really want to see Coach make Final Three. He's been endlessly entertaining, and I'm sure his jury speech/answers will be legendary.

On the other hand, I'm beginning to think all the alpha males are going to mutually destroy each other and we're left with a Final 3 of Sierra, Debbie and Erinn.
It was pretty entertaining watching them all making their various plans and strategizing about the vote only to have Joe get sent home and cancel Tribal Council. Now they're all back at square one, and they've all tipped their hands in various ways.
Man, Coach is approaching Andy Kaufman-esque levels of is-he-for-real fascination. He needs to stay on the show forever.

My theory still holds that Erinn and Debbie are likely to cruise to Final 3 after the Alpha Male bloodbath.
Did Coach actually say he'd been attacked by a shark?
Thread Starter
He did indeed state he was attacked by a shark. I believe he also had an encounter with a crocodile, was kidnapped by some tribe, battled the orcs at Helm's Deep, stormed the beach at Normandy, and wrote the next Star Wars trilogy. Of course, that is but a small list of his accomplishments.

He really has saved this season. He also currently poses no threat as he has not been close to winning immunity. He is more of a curiosity at this point. I would have to believe Tyson is wearing the target now, if the former Jalapao have any sense.
If Tyson doesn't win immunity yet again, he's probably out. The ex-Jalapao people have been playing a great game. They'll surely get Sierra and Erinn to vote with them if they decide to blindside Tyson.
If you say Coach isn't your favorite contestant ever, you're lying.

Ass-eating Peruvian midgets! He should win a million dollars just for that story!
Seriously, Coach is the greatest thing to ever happen to Survivor!

I just became Facebook friends with Coach.

I finally got around to watching the last episode, and holy shit, Coach! What a masterpiece he is. Fuck irony, I legitimately want him to win the whole thing, by using the Way of the Master.

JT: "We're throwing balls underhand at slate targets. None of us have ever done this before!"

Coach: "I've done it before..."

Hell, I want him to win Amazing Race too. And American Idol. And House.
Let us not forget this classic Coach (obviously, paraphrasing):

Brendan: "You said you had a military transport. How'd you manage that?"
Coach: "Pulled some strings."

Also,

Coach: "Be the wizard, Stephen, be the wizard."

The smug look on Tyson and Coaches face with their noses up in the air before the vote............... then the big 'oh snap' gulp when Tyson's name was being called was the highlight of the season for me.

Voting out Tyson was strategically intelligent, but I'll cop to being disappointed in TJ for going back on his word.

Also, I'll miss Tyson. He was hilarious.

He was also genuinely mean-spirited, something that Coach, for all his ridiculousness, doesn't seem to be. Nice blindside. I really didn't think it would go that way. Not that Sierra is all that worth saving. She's got to be the most sullen contestant on this show in a long time.

Oh, absolutely. Tyson was that bitch of a man who's hilarious as long as his bitchiness isn't directed at you.

Yeah, did we really need 40 minutes of her sullenly trying to justify her actions last night?
All I can think is that Sierra must be one of the most annoying people on earth to live with, because I don't think I can think of many other Survivor contestants who seem to be as violently loathed by their entire tribe for basically no reason other than being mopey. Considering how much dirt she had on Taj and Stephen, she should've been able to do some real damage. Instead she spent three days crying about how she made the wrong choices. I hate players who let themselves be guilted like that.
