I think it's safe to say that alot of people that come here do watch Buffy. But I don't wanna talk about Buffy I wanna talk about the real star of the show Spike. i really really enjoyed the new mentally disturbed Spike.i'm anxious to see where they go with it.i fucking HATE Dawn though and i'm afraid this season is gonna focus too much on her.oh well...

all in all it was a pretty good episode.not as funny as usual, but coming after the way last season ended i shouldn't have expected it to be.

Hi, my name is Ryan Rotten and I'm a FRIGGIN' DEVOTED NUT TO 'BUFFY'!

Okay - I have to mention that once in a while. Um, you know? Dawn doesn't really bug me all that much anymore. She's got some choice quips that make me laugh and her annoyance level has dropped. Spike was great, poor guy's gonna through hell this season, I know it. Willow and Giles got a good thing going. Anya - bah, couldn't give a shite about her. Xander? Looks like he tacked on a few pounds, doesn't do well for hiding his age. I'm loving the fact that they're already talking about this "older than the old ones" business. Very cool. Should be a good season.

Great make-up this episode, by the way. Adam looked incredibly cooler than he did season 4, and the zombie ghosts looked great too.

Hi, Ryan.

I dug it a lot, had that old 'Buffy' feeling again. And I really liked Spike's appearence, they're not going to make this soul thing easy on him, though the previews for next week make it look lik he's back to normal. Odd...

Didn't dig the formation of Dawn's little clique, but I guess it does have to happen at some point.

Anyone know when it starts in the UK?

I have to admit I've never watched Buffy in my entire life, that's not say I dislike it, I guess I just haven't gotten the time or well am not interested. I have seen the movie which came out many moons ago, I doubt it stands up to the series, but I'll go on the record and say I enjoyed the film when it came out. Am I missing something by not watching this show?

Yeah sure it is, the wounds are still fresh from your lies Mr. Ryan Rotten, we all know that not your real name!

We all though it was but Mr. DickMan sure told us the truth.

Heh heh heh...

Sorry couldn't help myself

Cheers!

Crap I missed the premiere

Well If Spike can Kill Xander and Become Dawn's lover it will be an interesting season...

Ok, it ain't gonna happen but a HellSpawn can still dream, right.

I wouldn't presume anything Johnny, seeing as how we now have an uber-powerful shape-shifting Dark Power (older than the Old Ones! Rock!) on the show who seems to enjoy taking on the appearence of former "Big Bads."

i think they'll let Spike get his shit back together gradually.he's the character they give the best quips to!they can't leave him a raving loon for the rest of the season!

either way,he's still my favorite character, nutcase or not.

I'm sorry, but I left Buffy after Spike became good and they ditched Vamps and went to Demons and that sort...I wanted my Vampire action going!! But I haven't seen the show in awhile so stuff may have changed.

That's an understatement.

hmmm.

when Buffy bumps into Spike in the basement and locks the door behind her, Spike says "Come on in, it's just the three of us in here." interesting.

of the Big Bad shapes assumed by the Figment, only Dru and Buffy are still living (as it were). does this imply Buffy has Big Bad potential, or do you think Spike just sees her that way? and if so, why would he consider Dru and Warren to be? huh? huh?

i don't think the morphing had anything to do with Spike's perception.for one,he never MET the Mayor,so why would he be imgagining him?and two,he hadn't come to town yet when all that whacky shit with the master went down.so if the morphing into Buffy was a sign of her Big Bad potential,it's a sign from Joss, not Spike.

Well when Spike said its just the three of us in here I tihnk it meant his human self, the demon inside him that makes him a vampire and his soul.

That's deep! Not sure I agree with you though. I thought he meant himself, Buffy and the Uber Big Bad seen in the epilogue, that would be "three of us" would it not?

Regarding the "Spike's perception" thing: I agree that we're dealing with a being who can assume the shape, powers and personalities of the worst Sunnydale has had to offer over the years. Not that what we saw was some kind of "acid flashback" relegated only to Spike. That was made pretty clear by all the references to the evil "older than the old ones" throughout the episode. Whatever this thing is, it's able to resurrect or recreate Buffy's worst foes and I'm sure we'll see more of them as the season progresses, doing what they did best... wink

Actually didn't they kill Drusila in Angel?

PEACE OUT!

I like the older than the old ones touch. A little lovecraftian nod there. Even though I'm sure nothing lovecraft will show up. But still you gotta admit it's nice.

PEACE OUT!

Could the Big Bad for this season be... the First Evil , finaly making its big move after its only appearance in a Buffy Christmas back in '98? He was responsible for dragging Angel back from Detroit(Hell), and had some plan for him. Now with Angel and Buffy on two different networks, and the WB being jerks about not wanting to do any crossovers, it looks like that Spike is going to take Angel's place in the First Evil's machinations. Wait and see will be the order of the season I guess? And I know I'm just going to love every minute of it.

I still say I could be right about the whole just the three of us thing. See buffy was about to come in when he said that. Meaning there was already three before she got there.

Actually, the show has taken inspiration from Lovecraft from the beginning. In the Buffy universe, demons inhabited the Earth long before humans. And if you want to get really specific, they've said that the demons we usually see on the show are just minor, weaker versions of true demons from other planes of existence. When the mayor planed to become a demon, he was to be the whole evil giant version of a demon. The kind it might take a volcano to stop. The Buffy "Monster Book" talks about the Lovecraft inspiration, too. Worth checking out.

I don't think so. Maybe you're thinking of the other chick vampire, Darla. After Dru and Darla went on their murderous rampage in L.A., I think Dru conveniently left. Darla stuck around, got pregnant, went away to gestate, came back, croaked, and gave birth (in that order).

Also on the Lovecraft tip,one of the magikal thingamabobs in season 5 (i think) was called the Dagon Sphere.
