THQ is going out of business in style and the winner is YOU

It's kind of hilarious how some gaming forums have reacted. In the same breath: "Omg, we can totally save THQ by buying this bundle and help them as much as we can to preserve the next games of Company of Heroes, Warhammer, Saints Row, and Darksiders...so, who wants a code?"

Snagged the Humble. Thanks for the heads-up. I will finally give a SAINTS ROW game a try.

They added new games to the THQ Bundle, so now you get Titan Quest and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War, too. Incredible deal.

Assassin's Creed III is $33 on Amazon today.

Not only that, if you buy the game they'll give you $3 instant video credit, a $3 downloadable game credit, and $3 extra credit toward any used game you want to trade in.

Gog.com has started their holiday sale, nearly their entire catalog is 50% off, and today there's a special on Bullfrog favorites. Populous 1-3, Dungeon Keeper 1-2, Syndicate, Theme Hospital and Magic Carpet all for the combined price of $11.92. Also, for the next 48 hours Duke Nukem 3D is completely free.

Thanks for the heads up!  There's a lot of good stuff for super cheap.  I know I'll be picking up the two Witcher games, and probably a few other cheapies.

Yeah, thanks. Added Duke Nukem to my library, along with the Icewind Dale games and the Niverwinter Nights 1 pack.

Today's daily deals for the Gog.com holiday sale are the Witcher 2 for 7.49, FTL for 4.99, and Arma 2: Combined Operations for 14.99. Duke Nukem 3D is still free to add to your library today, if anybody still hasn't claimed it.

Today's deals on the Gog.com holiday sale are Inquisitor, Geneforge 1-5, Torchlight, the Real Texas, and Legend of Grimrock, each for $3.74. If you haven't played Grimrock yet, GET ON THAT SHIT, seriously great game, and one of the very few old-school dungeon crawlers to come out in recent years.

Persona 4: Arena is available for PS3 and 360 for 22 bucks at Amazon.

What's cheaper than free?

Capcom is celebrating the 25th anniversaries of Mega Man and Street Fighter with a kick-ass looking 8-Bit mash up of the two, with Street Fighter characters serving as the level bosses.

And it is free!

So apparently the daily deals leading up to today were just an appetizer, because holy shit the Gog.com end of the world sale today:

http://www.gog.com/

Over 125 games 75% off or more. The downside is most of the deals require you to buy a bundle to receive the big discount.

I tried that out last night, and I wasn't impressed. Level design is piss poor, controller support is wonky as all hell (which is death to a Mega Man game), and I found some bizarre issues like the elevators on Crimson Viper's level killing me when going between screens. I know this was an amateur effort, but the way Capcom came to endorse it.... I expected a lot more.

Actually, it looks like if you click on a bundle, you can un-check the games you don't want, and still get the ones you want discounted.

Ok, I guess it varies from bundle to bundle. The Might and Magic one forces you to buy everything to get 75% off, otherwise the discount drops to the regular 50% off. The Telltale bundle, on the other hand, lets you choose whatever for the 80% discount.

Humble Indie Bundle 7 went live today. If you wanted Legend Of Grimrock, Binding Of Isaac, Indie Game: The Movie, Dungeon Defenders or Shank 2 for dirt cheap, it's your lucky week.

Interesting tactic, Valve.  Making me not interested in the first day of the Steam holiday sale.  I mean, if I didn't already have Borderlands 2 I'd probably grab that.  And if I hadn't heard you want the console version of Hitman over the PC version I'd think about that.  But even those aren't no-brainers.  I'm used to irresistable sales in day 1 that you can then regret purchasing on the last day when they go on sale even lower.

I can't look, but please don't tell me they just started another Valve sale!  I hope it at least goes through Christmas, since I am hoping for a Steam gift card.  I've already blown all my own money on Christmas.

It's their annual holiday sale.  So yeah, today was the first day in a series that aims to rape your wallet well before you get that gift card.

XBLA is having sales for the next 12 days or so.  Today, FEZ for 5, Mark of the Ninja for 7.50, Rayman Origin for 10, Hell Yeah!!! for 7.50.  All of those are good deals.

For folk that didn't jump into the THQ humble bundle, the THQ collection ($25) includes all their best games plus Darksiders 2...just fucking crazy at that content, literally a years worth of gaming for half-price of a standard AAA game.

Half the fun of these Steam holiday sales is seeing how the competition reacts, and Green Man Gaming (Would link, but fucking work firewall...) have come through again with a 30% off code valid with any purchases until 4th January. Just enter GMG30-DPLIM-DN831 in the checkout.

GMG's a great place to compare prices with Steam - with the above code I snagged Dishonored for $31. Figured that Steam never puts a 75% discount on games two months old or less, so I was safe to assume that they wouldn't beat GMG on this one. And even if they do, so what? It's Dishonored for $31. Zero complaints here.

I got Dishonored from Steam for 30 bucks about a month ago when they did their holiday sale.  I only had like 35 bucks in my bank account, but I couldn't pass that deal up.

Ooo, you Dishonored hipster (Dishipstered?)! Fucking great deal, though. Especially for you. I think we all need PCs with humongous hard drives so we can capitalize on this golden age of digital pricing we're experiencing at the moment.

I hear that.  The one thing I asked for from my girlfriend for Christmas was a new external hard drive.

A big year-end used sale just started at Gamefly. A few decent deals over there. I ordered LEGO BATMAN 2 for PS3 for $10.

XBox is having a "Countdown to 2013" sale. Everyday it's a new game(s) on sale for good prices. They've had Modern Warfare 3 for 50% the other day and yesterday it was the LEGO games for $10 each. Red Dead Redemption & LA Noire were $20 today. They also have some on-going offers on a bunch of shittier games that I have no interest in.

That's an insane deal, Workyticket. Thanks for the heads up!

ETA: And the insanity was too good to last. Sleeping Dogs is back up to $49.99. Glad I jumped on this yesterday.

For the Amazon's New Year's sale, if you boughta digital download game during December, you get $5 of credit towards any of their 2012 Editor's Choice games. Today only (I think), The Darkness II and Spec Ops: The Line are both $7.49. That's $2.49 with the credit. Top notch deal.

Anyone else check this bundle out? It's pretty great and it's free. That probably epitomizes the whole point of this thread. Cheap ass indeed.

Not a game, but does involve a game system: free $5 instant video credit if you register your Wii system for first time with Amazon, see link. I got the credit straight away, looks like I can use it for pretty much any of their instant videos, and can use any method to access Amazon instant video (i.e. doesn't have to be through Wii). Gonna watch Dredd tonight and then figure out what else to do with the buck or two left over.

I'm at work, so I can't access Steam here, but I picked up this link from Reddit a while back that's not blocked that shows Steam Sales.  Anyways, can anyone who has access to Steam right now confirm that Sleeping Dogs is indeed on sale for $9.99?

That's a bingo. You've got 3 hours to get it.

If you've got a smart phone you can make purchases through the app, FYI.

Yeah, I'm the one dude who does not have a smart phone.  I may just make it home in time.  Thanks for the heads up!

So most youtube wankers and bored journos are now calling on folk to never ever pre-order games because doing so is dumb and irrational and boneheaded and blah blah blah...I tuned out to that whiny rhetoric. You know why? Cuz this is Murica, you're free to do whatever the fuck you want. If you want to go ride a Manitee the tea party has your back. if you want to burn a guy to death without due process yes you can.

So if you're a Canadian exile trying to ingratiate yourself to your american peers like me, you will practice your god given right to give your money away to others for a product you intend on enjoying, or at least bitching about being a tool for practicing your god given right to buy products without waiting for critical reviews and commentary from trusted folk. But for whatever reason if you are compelled to harass a mostly cool guy because you're mad a dlc season pass thing was released for a game you're looking forward to anyway - you go back to mother russia and go eat bear - we don't have time for that shit here in Murica.

In the meantime, there's an option of pre-ordering Tomb Raider Oww My Throat Do You Have Any Halls Edition from Amazon for $33 bucks courtesy of entering the CAGROCKS coupon code* for the pc/steam release. You could wait for the steam sale, but those folk are just as bad as atheists or linux running pedophiles - dirty dirty people who want for everything but don't want to pay or do anything in return. You could directly order from steam too, get 5 bucks off, a free game, and two dlc things but saving $10 bucks is two subway sandwiches you can dangle in front of hungry homeless people who play the guitar and want to emulate that moron who died in a bus in Alaska somewhere. I have no sympathy for folk who can't get it up for Olivia Wilde, he deserved to die.

Speaking of dying, the same code will also bump down the price of Darks Souls to $11.24 for the pc release too. So now you're just sitting there peeing yourself because you can't make up your mind which awesome game you want to buy because you're one of those casuals that think Doodlejump is a hard game. We have a place for softies like that - Quebec.

*Please note CAGROCKS coupon is one time use only. Unless you suffer from multiple personality disorder who has a forgettable drama on NBC and you already have your numerous amazon accounts ready to exploit the system.

GoG is having a shooter sale; Duke Nukem 3d, Rise of the Triad, Shadow Warrior and the like are going for cheap for those looking for old school fps action.

Xbox 360 Marketplace is trying their hand at steaming things up.

EXPIRED Daily Deal 2/26/2013:

Halo Wars, Halo 3, Halo Reach -> $10 each
Halo 4 - $40

EXPIRED Daily Deal 2/27/2013:

Assassins Creed 1/2/Brotherhood -> $10 Each
Assassins Creed Revelations -> $20

Daily Deal 2/28/2013:

Resident Evil Code Veronica -> $5
Resident Evil 4 & 5 -> $10 each
Resident Evil 6 -> $20

Daily Deal 3/01/2013

Call of Duty 2 - $9.99
Call of Duty 3 - $9.99
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - $9.99
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - $9.99
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - $29.99
Call of Duty: Black Ops - $19.99
Call of Duty: Black Ops II - $49.99
Call of Duty: World at War - $9.99

Weeklong Deals:

DiRT 2 - $5
Bioshock - $5
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter - $5
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 - $5
GRID - $5
Rainbow Six: Vegas - $5
Virtual Fighter 5 - $5
The Darkness - $5
Tomb Raider: Legend - $5
Kane & Lynch - $5
Call of Juarez - $5
Rayman Raving Rabbids - $3
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic - $5
El Shaddai - $3
Tom Clancy's HAWX - $5

Ended up nabbing El Shaddai because why not, it's cheap and potentially looks okay. Repicked up Grid, in need of a new racing fix. The real problem with the sale is the lack of hard drive space. With previous game installs, dlc's, arcade releases, and the piles of Rock Band dlc occupying my hard drive I can only nab a few of these.

If anybody's been procrastinating on getting Crashmo, it's down $3 to $5.99, as far as I can tell today only.

Steam is running one of their pre-order tiered deals for Bioshock Infinite ($59.99).  The first tier is a free copy of Bioshock (good luck finding a friend who doesn't have that already).  Second tier is a bunch of hats and stuff for Team Fortress 2 (whatever, but you can sell to recoup some of the cost).  Third tier which it was close to reaching when I last checked was a free copy of the new Xcom game.  As a guy who hasn't bought the new Xcom yet I'll probably cave for this.

GoG released "Undying" today at 5.99; a must own, specially if you are a horror/fps fan...and in terms of atmosphere, gameplay and scares, it holds up today quite nicely!

Portal 2 is $5 on Steam and you can get both Portal games in a pack for $7

There is no reason why you should not own this, even if you hate the FPS genre try it out. I hated FPS until I gave the genre a shot with the first portal game and I've been hooked ever since.

Injustice is $35 at TRU starting this Sunday's ad.

Some of the Total War games are pretty cheap on Amazon. I think just about all of Rockstars stuff is on sale on Steam. Some highlights are Max Payne 3 for 5 bucks (or the entire franchise for 17), bully for 7.50 and the Grand Theft Auto Complete Pack for 25 bucks. If you're up for a broad stroke of everything "great" that's Rockstar there's a Hits collection (LA Noire, GTA IV, GTA IV Tales from Liberty City and Max Payne 3) for 30.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is the daily deal for a little over 10 bucks....if you just absolutely have to play it.

Brutal Legend is 10 too.

My pick out of the whole sale though is Defense Grid: The Awakening it's a great little tower defense game.

Steam right now is having a super sale on everything by Rockstar Games.

I've always wanted to check out LA Noir and it's now $10 with all DLC included. I might give it a shot.
