Today's final Xbox deal is Battlefield 1943 for 7 bucks. Nice.
I just grabbed Osmos and Civ IV off Steam with mere MINUTES to spare. Let's see what comes up next...
Nothing really worth it today...
I picked up Shattered Horizon as I'd heard some good stuff about it. Plus, I needed something to give my graphics card a workout.
Where is the link to these daily specials?

Just go to www.steampowered.com -- they should be on the front page.

Today's Crysis/Crysis Warhead double feature is a great deal, and will make your video card wimper and beg for mercy.
Sam and Max Complete is 15 BUCKS on Steam today. That's like 40 hours of adventure gaming goodness. If you don't own it (or have never played it) and don't pick this up.... well, the world just got a little bit sadder.

Some other great games today too- Trials 2 for $2.50, Mass Effect and Portal for $5 each.

I bought both as they came out.
$5 Morrowind today. How would that game hold up if I've never played it (or any of the series) before? I have had Oblivion on my to-buy list since I got a new PC, and hadn't really considered going back to Morrowind, but hey, $5.

What do you think, sirs?
Some of the bugs in the game will interfere with your enjoyment, as will the bleak brown graphics and clunky ui. It's a big god damned game if you're up to losing yourself in it, but if you have a shiny pc ready for Oblivion go that route instead. Can't imagine it being expensive on ebay/half.com/amazon

half.com listings for Oblivion new and used...

listings for Game of the Year edition...

Wow, Oblivion came out in 2006? A lingering memory of playing that game was sneaking into a house and seeing a lonely Khajit sitting by a table eating an apple. Don't know why but I've always felt sorry for that npc.

Give it a try. Then you too can have a rage stroke at the simple mention of the words 'cliff racer'.

Thanks for the tip. Bookmarked.
Thanks for the opinions, guys. I think I'll pass on it. I'm not huge into the genre, and there's not much of a chance I'll get through Morrowind AND Oblivion. I'll just keep waiting for Oblivion:GOTY to show up from Goozex (or for a $10 sale on Steam). No rush.

Anyone here hoping they have saved something huge for the last day?
If they make a price drop on the Fallout 3 GOTY edition, Im buying it, love for the 360 version be damned (plus, mods!).
If not, well, Machinarium and Plants vs Zombies get both, to make my 70 bucks overll limit on the whole sale.
I would pick up Fallout 3 or COD4 for the right price. Or Oblivion, as previously mentioned. I have already obtained quite a bit of gaming goodness from this sale, so I'll try to use some restraint.
I feel like I've gotten plenty out of this sale so far. Picked up The Witcher, Cyrsis Complete, and Stalker. There are more I would have definitely picked up if I hadn't had so much on my plate from previous sales.

C&C was very tempting but I really want to hold off on any RTS till SC.

Last day is encore day; discounts again on Torchlight, Killing Floor, stalker, L4D2, and Defense Grid.
That's a little disappointing. If they're gonna do an encore, why not Prey?

They ran out of licenses on that one-- I guess they couldn't get more.

Yeah, disappointing, but I'm alright with what I got.

I put myself a 70 bucks limit, so I spend the last 20 on indie games; machinarium, Time gentlemen and Plants vs Zombies.

Also, 4.99 AGAIN for Torchlight; no excuses, go buy it.

Because they already ran out of keys?
...besides, it ain't THAT good.

(...and, yup, my final purchase will be 'Torchlight'.)
I've been monitoring this thread and finally pulled the trigger on Torchlight. Thanks for the heads up from everyone on the deals ...
TORCHLIGHT is a very fun, addictive and satisfying dungeon crawler. Taking on scores of enemies with a lightning flinging mace in one hand and a Boar Cannon in the other? Good times.
I don't know why, Torchlight just didn't really keep any hold on me. It was fun for a couple of hours, and I'll probably play it again at some point, but it just didn't really grasp me for any significant length of time.

I have willed it into being! Someone's due to send me Oblivion GOTY this week from Goozex (for points equal to about $12,) so I'll give that a shot before too long.
For those that haven't seen it posted on any gaming sites. You can name your own price for Crayon Physics Deluxe, similar to the World of Goo deal that happened last year.
I've recently been ordering most of my games off Amazon. They've usually got them for lower than list price and often price match other companies. Anyway, the biggest issue is that you have to pay $6 extra if you want to get the game on release day unless you're an Amazon Prime member.

Luckily there's an easy way right now to get a free Amazon Prime membership. I just did it and it worked great even though I've already done 2 other Amazon Prime trials before.

From SlickDeals.net

Amazon is offering a free 3-month trial of Amazon Prime valid for all accounts, including those who previously participated in a similar trial.

  2. Add the book to cart using the "Add to cart with free 2-day shipping" button on the right of the page (if visible)
    1. If the button is not visible, simply add the book to cart
  3. Login to your account, and sign up for free 3-month trial of Amazon Prime when prompted
    1. If the button was not visible in (2), in cart switch to "FREE Two-Day Shipping with a free trial of Amazon Prime" shipping
    2. Sign up for trial as prompted
  4. Once sign up is completed, remove the book from your cart
  5. Click here, log in if prompted and turn off your prime membership from automatic upgrade by clicking "Do Not Upgrade" button, and confirm your selection
  6. Enjoy your free 3-month trial of Amazon Prime

It's a terrific game, too. One of my favorites for the PC last year.
Amazon Prime is a great gift, even if you pay for it. Since I got my Prime membership I barely go to a B&M shop unless I am bored. The bad part is spending a lot more money on Amazon.
I tried that Amazon Prime thing, and it worked for me as well. Cool.
Amazon Prime made me spend all kinds of money that I wouldn't have done before. Free trial, my butt! Hahahaha. It's genius.
I love abusing it. Ordering stupid $5 crap with it so I don't have to go to Staples or whatever. My UPS guy must hate me.
I ordered some rechargeable battery kit right around Christmas weekend. Free 2 day shipping, right? But the estimated delivery would be 3 or 4 days. I was fine with that. I was in no rush.

The damned thing came the next day!!! An AWESOME surprise.

On a completely unrelated note... I'm new to this thread and have a PS3 that I haven't used for much gaming. I would love anyone's opinion on some worthwhile games I could find for a bargain. All I have is SF4, Burnout Paradise, and... Dragonball Burst Limit (I know, I know!!!).
I'd hit the PS3 thread instead I feel like the lists of the good older/cheap games have been done a few times there.
Will do. Thanks!

Well, Im not sure what the PS· bargains are over there at the USA, but Im pretty sure you could find The first Uncharted, prince of Persia, Valkyria Chronicles, dead Space, Bioshock and Mirror's Edge for cheap, since they are 08-09 games.

I own it on disc and still bought it right away...its never ran as smooth and the gameplay still holds; now, if they release AVP2 optimized as well, id be happy as hell.
If you've been meaning to give World of Warcraft a go, Best Buy has the core game on sale for $19.99, and you get the Burning Crusade expansion free.

AVP 1 was unplayable on a lot of modern rigs (primarily because of video card issues) which is why I bought the new version on Steam although I still have my original discs. Runs great now.
Please note the Ads for this from Steam emphasize the "fixed to run on modern computers" feature. They are obviously hoping to get a good many people who have the original but are fed up with the problems to get it to run on a modern rig.
With AVP2 the problems are not nearly as bad. But, yeah, an optmised version would be nice.
For those disappointed with the FMV monitor messages, that were taken from the 'Gold Edition' of Aliens vs Predator (featuring members of the 'Rebellion staff'); HERE is a 'work-around' to restore the originals.

I'm personally not happy with either, but it'll give you the option...
Aamzon is doing a bunch of gold box deals for 360 products. Right now, it's Fallout 3 for $28.00.

Also L4D2 for $35.00 as the deal of the day.

ETA: Looks like other games will be Assassins II, Modern Warfare 2, Dragon Age and Star Ocean 4.
Fallout 3 is actually only $18. It's not GOTY edition though.
If the ACII deal is good enough, I may get that.
You played The Saboteur, right? You already played the better game.
I was thinking about Assassins II as well.

And Fallout is $18, this sleep deprivation is killing me (Alex, your June is going to be SUPER AWESOME).
Like I said, it's gonna have to be a really good deal.
