Anybody pick up the new Stephen King book today? Any thoughts? I picked it up at Barnes & Noble while on my lunch break from work tonight. Hopefully I'll get started on it in the morning.

Not yet, psyched to get it though. Parents said they're gonna send it on off to me... They're nice like that.

I haven't picked this up yet for two reasons. 1, I am reading Dreamcatcher and will end up picking it up after I'm done and 2, I have no damn money.

I kinda wade through kings book a little at a time when i have some time. i never end up reading his new stuff till its old stuff. the only books of his that i tore through were the dark tower series, but those are amazing beyond words. when the new one is out i will be waiting in line. some stuff like dreamcatcher and insomnia and some others were good while i was reading them but afterwards i felt kinda empty. (altho i read insomnia before the dark tower books, so i think i lost alot of the affect)
it is a classic too.

I couldn't agree more Hallie - I buy King's stuff the minute it hits (or in this case the week) shelves...then I let them sit on the shelves a bit, wait for a stormy day and choose one book to start up.

Christine, the trucks in Pet Sematery, Maximum Overdrive, and now a Buick...I know it's not news, but damn! I've never known anyone more scared of automotive machinery than SK. And this was BEFORE he got run over!

I'm just now starting on the Dark Tower series, after resisting the hype for a long time. I read the Tower-related story in Everything's Eventual, and had to admit I was hooked.

BTW, best story hands down in EE is not a horror story--it's the one about Dillinger's gang. A knockout, that one.

I used to devour his books immediately. Release day was the same day I cracked the covers and ventured several hundred pages in.

Now, I still pick up his books on release day, but I even have a few left on the shelf -- the King Shelf -- that are aging like a fine wine. One day soon...

If I could get them on their release day I still woud, but sadly I can't afford that nowadays. 'Everything's Eventual' was out for almost a month before I got it, for God's sake. Either way, when I get new King, all other reading is put on hold until it is fully devoured. Just love the man's work.

Save up for the Dark Tower stuff. They're gonna be limited and expensive ... at least in the first print hardcovers.
