I know we had a Lucero thread a little while ago, but I wanted to mention to any Ben Nichols fan that he has a new solo EP out. And it's pretty cool!
It's a concept album about McCarthy's Blood Meridian, named after the books sub-title, "The Last Pale Light in the West."
It's not perfect, and for being based on such a rich, dense (though sparse) novel it feels a little slight, but if you're a fan of Nichols (or of the book) I recommend checking it out. The title track and "The Judge" (an instrumental) really capture the mood of the novel pretty well without sounding like an imaginary soundtrack.
