Have Ticket prices for the movies gone up in your area recently?

With the numbers being what they are, I thought I'd check. Though as big as they've been, inflated ticket prices wouldn't explain how things haven't dropped as sharply as they have in the past. So if your tickets went up, let me know.

I went to see My Bloody Valentine at a ghetto Carmike theater two weeks back and was appalled to shell out $11.25 for the ticket. It was even more shocking because there's a really nice, state-of-the-art Rave theater a few miles away where the tickets are $9.00.

Hey Andre: Weekdays are still cheap ($5 at the AMC theater by me), but they're up to $9 on the weekend.
It's gotten to the point were a ticket is $9.50 but to see it on IMAX is $11.50..I fucking shell out the extra $2..of course I'm sure they have that in mind when they set the price.

Hell, I miss the days of high school, back in the day a movie was $6.50 and the matinee was $3 to $4

90% of the time I got to the Arclight (SO) so its a premium, but at normal theaters I think its like 9-10 bucks, maybe 8.50 at some.

Yeah, my wife and I took my mother-in-law to see The Dark Knight on the IMAX screen at King of Prussia. I seriously thought we were going to have to take out a home equity line of credit.

I paid $14.50 for MBV in 3D at The Bridge in Philly. (They added 2 bucks for the glasses, I guess?) I do believe these prices are higher than they were 6 months ago.

Geezus. My afternoon matinees on the weekend are $4.75. $6.50 for the 7 - 10 shows with $1.50 added for 3D, and $4 on Tuesday night if I go to the local 4-screener.

I haven't been to the theater in a few months, but last time I went the local Regal theater stopped matinee pricing. I think other theaters in the area have adopted this practice too.

It's still just $6.50 at the Drafthouse. Their food prices went up a smidge, but I can still have dinner and a movie for <$20, so I'm not complaining. I haven't been to a regular theatre in months, so I dunno what their prices are.

Our tickets go up $0.50 each summer, but this year they've aready jumped a quarter. Regular price is $7.75. Matinee is $5.75.

Still 10 bucks in South Jersey.

I was told by a very disinterested cashier that the price of a 3-D movie was a flat 11.50 regardless of time. Before that, prices were about $8 in the evening, so living in a backwoods TN town for right now does have its perks.

Around me, tickets have gone up a dollar.

(Make me wanna holler, the way they do my life)
They've gone up from 10.50 to 12.50 most places in NYC over the last year, and in the Catskills, from like 9.75 to 10.50 for non-matinee prices since summer.

I live in Katy (suburb of Houston). The prices have gone up $1 in the past few months. Now $9.75 which is still a bargain compared to some places. Either way, coming from $8.75 that is an 11% increase.

Arclight in Sherman Oaks is $11.50 for Mon-Thurs and $13.50 for weekends. As someone who used to frequent AMC multiplexes, Arclight is worth every penny.

On the flipside, New Beverly is still $7.00 a night for two movies.

I should mention that back home in College Station, you can go to a main chain (Cinemark or Premire) multiplex evening show for $4 a person. This includes digital projection and is only $5 for 3-D shows.
I rarely pay full price for tickets unless it's something special like IMAX or 3D or something. But if you go before noon on Friday-Sunday at AMC, it's only $5.

7 dollars for matinee at the Rave and the cost of a nice lunch to get snacks. A small popcorn, soft pretzel and large diet coke put me back $13.

I'm just waiting for it to hit $13 here in NYC.

As someone who has gone to both. I agree with these statements.

There's also the Century 8 over in North Hollywood where you can get in for $6.75 I believe. But it's really really beaten in.

I haven't paid much attention but I swear when I saw Burn After Reading the ticket was $8.50 and this past weekend when I saw Benjamin Button it was $9.

I'll ask next time I go.
I think prices have increased by about a dollar in the last year.

When I lived in Sherman Oaks, that was an okay "crap movie" theater, as in I saw The Devil's Rejects there, which seemed appropriate.

Unsure if UK numbers are helpful, but tickets now seem to average at around £7 here, when they used to be 6.

I saw Grindhouse in there. Very appropriate.

I blame the Rave for jacking up ticket prices in Chattanooga. I used to pay $5 for a matinee at Carmike or Regal, but prices everywhere have gone up to $6.75 in the past 2 or 3 years.
I feel like I've been paying $8.50 for a movie ticket for ten years. It's never changed, even though I've moved several times.
I swear they go up by .25 to .50 every six months in NYC. The Jersey prices have been pretty stable, though, about 9 bucks a regular time, 6 or 7 for a matinee.

This thread reminds me I need to go get my Faculty ID from the tech college where I teach part time. I didn't realize until last semester that I would get a student discount with it.

My theaters in Savannah and McDonough (metro-Atlanta) hover near the $9.50 mark. $12.50 for Mall of GA IMAX, last I went.
Tickets at the new Regal Biltmore Grande (which happens to be in my neighborhood) are 9.25, 11.25 for 3D.
At the multiplex I go to tickets went up drastically in the past couple weeks. When I saw Taken the matinee ticket was $6.50. When I went for Friday the 13th tickets were $9.75 for an adult, and $8.50 for kids. I guess the matinee prices disappeared. The Alamo Drafthouse prices haven't changed though.

Looked at prices for Regal theaters...

8 matinee
10 regular showing

7.50 a ticket at Costco
