Random doodles

Came across these rummaging through some drawers, thought I'd share.

First, a Maitre d'mon:

A pterodactyl who seems to be up to something:

This was a robot sidekick for a space hero character who would provide appropriate musical accompaniment for his master's adventures:

Finally, this was my concept for a contest to design the mascot for the Safety Department at Universal -- a safety cone named Trip. Ended up losing to some guy in a superhero costume named Safety Man. Oh well:

I like the pterodactyl a lot.

The first drawing looks like something out of Gremlins 2, and the last is Patrick from Spongebob.

These are all from around 1997 or so, so I had Spongebob beat!

The carnivorous Fuckworm is very protective of his little boy.

Dunno about this one.
I really want to see the stories of Little Boy and Fuckworm. Get somewhere with that shit!
Patrick Ripoll is actually a white Jhonen Vasquez. Who knew?
This one is a doodle from the mid '90s, LONG before it was en vogue to do crazy mismatched hero comics.

The Lady and I were in a restaurant with the paper table-covers a few days back, and while trying to explain the kind of characters Nick used to attach to his blogs, I scribbled out this...

Are Nick and his Drawings common conversation with the Lady?

It was part of my explanation of the gum statue in my closet.

Real Answer: We were talking about blogs. And Lasagna. It was a Macaroni Grill.

Nice Monster, Patrick.

I am once again reminded of my lack of drawing ability.
I think this one was from when I was in love with Werewolf Girl.

This one is self-explanatory.

It's amazing how much a rudimentary grasp of shading can do.
That is true. And judinging from the shading lines, you must've gone to the Bill Sienkiewicz school of drawing.
I found these two floating heads that I never bothered to finish.

What this thread really needs is Spider with a Human Head.

Good work, Trejo.

I can play too?

Sketches and idea pieces that had some photoshop colours

brains...

Mock up for a comic idea (forgive the badly drawn lady, twas a mock up)

Inbetween Lectures (must have had mudkips on the brain)

2000AD inspired, he's probably bald underneath.
I like them! Especially the first two.
They're all good, Doc. The 2000 AD guy is fantastic, and 'Isle of Fright' looks promising too. Well done.

Today wasn't a good day.

One of my kids loves penguins, so I tried to draw some for her.

Ah, illustrated animals. The only kind you can trust.
Is that a Megatron Penguin on the top right?
hahaha ... yeah. One of my daughters suggested I try a Transformer's variation on the penguins. So I put a very generic "Transformer Helmet" and lines on top of it. Funny, there's a bunch of transformers with that same helmet repeated over and over (Megatron included).
Some random ones, mostly based on inside jokes and boring lectures.

edit: made a new one, with the humor i like to go towards more.
Like it SAIRUS.
Here's one I did for the dive bar whilst knocking back a few. The other after sushi one night.

I like the variety of penguins up in ElCapitan's.

*Cracks knuckles*

Here are some oldish pencil sketches (from a few years ago):

I have a tattoo of this on my right calf:

I wish I could paint...

When I'm really bored at the store, doodling helps pass the time. I draw on the cardboard from cigarette cartons.

Hey, they are great!

But aren't you asian? Shouldn't all your drawings have huge eyes and all the girls be semi naked?
I'll never show you my secret doodle stash!

Thanks! It's so rough, but I'm always surprised by how well it turned out and how much I like it. Kind of a happy accident.
awesome stuff mcnooj! You've got a really strong grasp on anatomy/form/perspective. Much impressed.
So, nekkerbee, if you ever find yourself in hell and wonder "What did I do to end up here?". It's the spider with the heads. That's what you did.

Killer Bees!

This one was fun to draw, although it prompted my wife to ask "Are you angry honey?"
