Anyone looking for a new pet dog?

A stray dog followed my wife home on Saturday, and we've put up signs, but have yet to find an owner. He had to have had an owner, because he showed up with a collar. No tags though, and he's not chipped. He's a boxer, possibly mixed with something else. The vet says he's probably 1 1/2 to 2 years old, non-altered, and a sweetheart. Very nice, pretty quiet, and being young, still likes to chew on things a little bit, but is more than happy with a rawhide bone or chewtoy. He's gotten along well with our other dog, who is about the same age, and is being tolerated by our 3 cats. We've already got the one dog, and I'm not in the market for another. Since no owner has stepped forward, we're looking for someone to take him, either as a foster home until we can find an owner, or just take him in general. If anyone is interested, PM me.

From my very limited experience, boxers are great dogs. A friend of mine has a couple of them and they are some of the coolest, friendliest dogs that you'd ever want to meet. If/when we ever decide to get a dog, it'll be a boxer.

Good luck on finding new owners for the little guy.

Not him, is it?

Oh well. It was worth a shot. And maybe you should post a pic of the one you found on Craigslist; I know if I lost a damn boxer, I'd want it back.

I think my wife did. Or at least, she heard back from someone related to Craigslist, but they were missing a 5-year old dog.

My wife rescued a terrier running down the highway last year. He had no collar or microchip, and our ads brought no results. I don't know who lost their dog but their loss is our gain, because he's a terrific dog who quickly won us over and became a new member of the family.

My point: although you're not in the market for a new dog, if you can't find an owner and he seems to fit right in, be a mensch and expand your family. Consider it your good deed for the year.

If anyone does try to claim him, make them answer questions about him. (Looks, behavior, etc..)

(Apparently, it's common for dog fighting types to claim lost dogs for "training".) If any of them turn up, shoot them in the fucking cock and send their eyes to their mother/spouse.

Well, the Forsyth Humane Society says they'll have space in 2-3 weeks. Ugh.

Boxers are really, really great dogs. I wish I weren't so far away or I would take him in myself.

Update--a humane shelter took him in today to try and find him a home. Wife was very sad after she dropped him off, but it's for the best. I would imagine we'll be looking at purposely getting a 2nd dog very soon after all of this.
