Exactly.

I would love it if flag-wavers invoked his name along with apple pie, mom and baseball anywhere remotely near as often as they do Wayne's.

'Twas as predictable as the sunrise, or the turning of the tide or the re-surfacing of this thread.

Yet, strangely reassuring.

Ah, CHUD...how can I quit ya?

try mine on for size...

- I thought Step Brothers was alot better than Pineapple Express

- I have never seen alot of the "classics" like Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, Citizen Kane and have no real desire to

- I like Nic Cage's "Gone in 60 Seconds" even with Jolie's weird dreads.

- I think everything Joss Whedon has done on TV is crap...EVERYTHING

- I think the Office and Scrubs are 90% shit

- I think "Star Trek 2: TWOK" is far superior to "The Empire Strikes Back"

- I think McCartney still would have been great without Lennon. But Lennon wouldn't have been shit without McCartney.

- In fact George Harrison (solo) is better than Lennon (solo)

- I think "The Dead Pool" is a good Dirty Harry movie

- I would rather sit in the nut numbing cold of Invesco Field on a Sunday in November watching the Broncos play than sitting in a warm movie theatre watching ANY movie.

- "Miracle" is better than "Slap Shot"

- I can actually tolerate newer episodes of Family Guy

I did too, and IIRC, so did CHUD-owner, Nick (EDIT: well it didn't make him want to feed his dick to bobcats, so that's something). It technically wouldn't be a sin against CHUD, would it?

Outside of a relatively small but arguably loyal fanbase, I don't think many folks take Norris all that seriously. I don't know...Has he been on a stamp yet?
He got his own comic. Does that count?

1. I watch Heroes.
2. I watch reality tv.
3. I confuse Amenabar and Almodovar all the time.

With art by Steve Ditko, no less.

I like to imagine that one day Chuck Norris went into battle wearing some other Karate Kommando's bandolier, and that night typed up a memo suggesting everyone's initials be stamped on them so that such a mishap never happened again.

He'd probably remind everyone after the 8AM, lunchtime, and 3PM prayer meetings....

I don't really watch horror movies. It's not that I hate them or think they aren't worth my time, but more often than not they are TOO effective on me. To the point that I am typically very jittery and jumpy the rest of that day/night and possibly longer afterwards if it was a particularly scary film. I know a lot of people love that about horror movies and go into them hoping for exactly that type of reaction, but I don't enjoy being afraid, really, so I avoid them. As such, many of the classic, CHUD-lauded horror films have never played before my eyes. It's not something I am particularly proud of (and it sucks that so many of the CHUD podcast jokes go over my head since they reference these movies so much) and I know it isn't especially masculine, but it's my reality.

I also like long, wet, soft, slow kisses that last 3 days.

You're not alone. I've gotten better since I began frequenting CHUD, actually, but intense horror (especially slasher) movies do have an effect on me that they don't seem to have on most Chewers. I have an intellectual appreciation for slashers after having read a lot in their defense here and at the AV Club, but no matter how much I respect them, I never really want to sit down and watch one. Maybe it comes from the Horror section being directly across from the Children's section at my local video store at a very impressionable age. Or maybe I'm a big fat squishy wuss. Either answer is acceptable.

But CHUD turned me on to a lot of movies I loved I wouldn't have ordinarily seen because of my bias: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, Hostel--I even watched the Hills Have Eyes remake (albeit edited for TV) recently and enjoyed it, which surprised me. Though I'm still a long way from putting The Devil's Rejects at the top of my Netflix queue.

As far as kisses go, 2 days is my limit.

Where was The Hills Have Eyes remake edited for tv already?

Spike TV late-night, maybe 2AM or so. It was obviously edited, but I was amazed by how much they kept in. Rape scenes was pretty much intact, as far as I could tell. But there were plenty of cutaways when blows were being landed throughout the movie. Lots and lots of blood made it in, though.

The only thing I could really confess to - and I'm not really ashamed of it, since its a matter of taste - is that I'm not really into Hitchcock films. I can see why he was so important to the development of 20th century cinema and especially British cinema, but most of his films feel like flat exercises in style and technique. North By Northwest has its moments, but didn't come together as a tense thriller or an exciting action film or me; I was actually bored by Vertigo; Joseph Cotten's outstanding performance aside (and some lush photography) Shadow of a Doubt left me fairly cold; Psycho, again, has some fantastic use of camera and great performances from Perkins and Leigh, but is not a film I would throw on as entertainment or feel lacking for not owning.

The grand exception is Rear Window which I fucking adore. Its got everything (style, cast, performance, tension, emotion, humour) and is pretty much a perfect film.

So its not that I think Hitchcock is over-rated or shit, just very much of his time, I guess and its hard to gauge the impact he must have had at the time when he's been so consistently ripped off sionce. But he's just not my cup of tea. I'd go so far as to say that I probably enjoy De Palma's homages to Hitch more than the films he emulates.

De Palma has never made anything as strong as Rear Window, though.

Yep, didn't read past Slater's comment because I knew it'd be there and I knew he'd be right.

I bet some of you actually feel proud of yourselves too!

And you're posting on a movie forum why exactly?

I did not like the remake of "Friday the 13th." At all.

Do you post on fucking forums, Greg? I like fucking way more than film. I don't like talking about it as much as talking film, though.

So you are saying because I prefer to go watch a live Broncos game over a movie. I shouldn't post on a movie website's message board. Even though I still go to movies and enjoy discussing them...makes sense I guess...

Fortunately, CHUD has one of those, so it's like one-stop shopping. Sadly, there's rarely anything interesting going on in it.

I thought of another one.

Episode II is my favourite Star Wars prequel. By a country mile.

You've obviously never seen Kolberg. Rated 5.2 stars on imdb, it's Goebbels' Gone With the Wind.

Hey, Goebbels has an imdb page! It kinda peters out after Kolberg, though. Hm.

You guys are all on crack. Speer was far and away a superior Nazi. He even had plausible deniability.

Could this be the start of a new CHUD draft?
