You know what's dumb? Leykis used to actually have a pretty decent show, he's a good host and had a knack for playing devil's advocate. He'd get somebody riled up, then get them on the phone, then get somebody else on the phone and let them at each other. It was almost always amusing.
You don't remember that? That's because nobody listened and the ratings were mediocre.
It wasn't until he switched to his current schtick that he became relevant, ratings-wise. Sex almost never used to come up on his show and then it was suddenly his entire show. Most of it felt like a grasp at being Stern-like to me, but that's apparently what people wanted to hear because that's when his ratings went up.
I'd say blame the idiots who don't listen to decent radio, not the guy who was smart enough to put together schtick that the market apparently wants.
