Thank you.

Good stuff, but do try and fix the technical issue of having Christophe talk in my left ear. It can wear ya down after a while.

But I really can relate to his frustration and anger. I really do.

Also, it's President Grant on the $50.

Unlike those on the Waiting To Exhale waiting list, you can hold your breath: Back-Talk returns. And leaner than usual...

Episode Twenty Eight: Jeffries Tube of Love Part 2
The conclusion to last week’s “cliff-hanger” is lithe, informal, and characteristically high on Simpsons references. Is it exciting? Well, Chris pretends to be a girl, before putting his shiny new IanBot™ through a punishing sanitation schedule. Guinan and Q are appreciated. Things are concluded. What do you think?

Whether our first foray into two-parterdom was a success or debacle, we'd love to hear from you.

One of us would sleep with humanity's enemies, one of us would destroy them or die trying. No surprises which is which...

Episode Twenty Nine: Ant-Lover?

Ian lambastes the quality of his work Christmas dinner. Chris follows suit with the Kaiser Chiefs. Football (or “soccer” for the foreign amongst you) gets workshopped with violent results. Fittingly, your hosts’ proposals are used to stave off an insect apocalypse. Online gaming’s life-affirming highs and soul-destroying lows also feature. There will be delay.

As always, your patronage would be most welcome.

Thanks for the update and continued support, Scott. Although there's nothing to stop people listening in chronological order, it might be better for those who've missed an episode or two to just jump in with either the most recent or one of the most recent outings. Instalments are usually stand-alone and we always provide any necessary exposition. Plus, it might be more fun that way (no "I left off on that one... or did I?") And Chris has been cracking me up more than usual, lately.

Congrats on wrapping up uni for the break, by the way.

Back-Talk lives, not that you'd know it from our recent silence. We've been shafted by technology, yet again. Chris is keeping me posted, and I keep on at him to keep me posted. Sorry for the delay; it pains me everyday.

Hello.

Technical frightmares have beset us for many weeks. We finally got things back to normal earlier today, much to our relief. What follows are just some of the episodes we're planning to release soon. Some of these have been "in the can" for a while so now we're trying to catch up to ourselves. Hopefully, these will go some way towards compensating for all the non-existence and problems recently. Without further exposition...

One of us has an erotic tale, one of us doesn't. No surprises which is which...

Episode Thirty: With No Listeners Comes No Expectancy
Starring a morally suspect lady, Alderaanian architecture, and ambiguous buttock contact. We also confuse Argyle with someone called Ardell, speculate over potential celebrity pugilism, and say “hate-tank” a lot.

Once of us has an alarming erotic tale...

Episode Thirty One: So I Went Home With This Girl Who Once Dated A Murderer
Some recent re-watches of Clerks II and Zack and Miri Make a Porno stimulate further Smithian discussion. University writing classes aren't short on problems. Another lady falls under Christophe's spell... with surprising results! Partially homo-erotic role-play ensues, once again.

In addition to our regular episodes, we've also got some "special" installments in the works. Sorry again for the delay and mishaps. We appreciate any support, listeners, and mail on offer.

Cheers!

The catch-up continues.

Episode Thirty Two: The Separation of Church and Jet-Pack
Ian is fed up with Snow Patrol. If he found himself at Rekall, which religion would he choose? How long will it take for Christophe to bring Star Wars into a discussion of faith? The answers to these and other questions can be found within. DISCLAIMER: Ian would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that he (now) knows “Handjobs for the Holidays” is on Broken Social Scene, not You Forgot It In People.

Episode Thirty Three: Gash-Fic
As in “bad”, not the slang for the body-part. Ian attempts to dissuade everyone on the planet from watching The Persuasionists. Chris once used his hair to homage Leon S. Kennedy. Spider-Man’s cinematic future is speculated upon at length. Ian slams Empire Online’s sub-par writing. Chris tears Torchwood a new one, then we ask ourselves “what’s life like for homosexuals?”

Huh huh. Gash.

Mate, you bumped this least bumpable of threads. That's enough for a sincere thank you.

We really have streamlined since. It's generally briefer now than it was then, the odd fluctuation aside. Also, they really can be listened to out of order. I of all people appreciate your chronological approach, but, should you feel the need to jump ahead, exposition will be available if needed.

Did I mention we need mail?

Who else was I going to spend Valentine's Day with?

Back-Talk presents...

"Love-Talk: Potato Trackstar"

Roses are red, violets are blue

She making with it, so why don't you too?

Is there anything better than taking the nearest (and dearest?) out for a spin in a blacked-out van under false pretenses on Valentine's Day? If there is, we don't want to know. If there is, how would we?

While this is a Valentine's Special (the first in a series of specials, by the way) it contains 100% more references to rape, pedophilia, Buffalo Bill, and Ed Gein than anyone had any right to expect. I'm also pleased to report that the sound quality is much improved this time out. No "one ear for Christophe, one ear for Ian" here. There's a whole two-channels worth of banter on offer.

Cheers.

Back-Talk presents...

Josh-Talk: The Metro Station Question

Education. Health Care. Gay marriage. Irish Nationalism. It's all change for Back-Talk in this U.S. special. Joining Love Thang ("Christophe") and Ginger ("Ian") once more is Joshua "James Nesbitt" Fein, reprising his role as Back-Talk's best friend and guest contributor.

Chris ponders the notion that he would take a boy-band gig on pragmatic grounds, Josh airs a surprising Ricky Gervais revelation, and Ian gets chatted up by a fella, then laments Unionism (!) Unseasonal Christmas discussion can also be found in this gargantuan 2 hours + episode. Don't mention it.

Sorry about the delay, Ed.

Back-to-Back-Talked today. Christophe brought the funny; I brought myself. If you know a better way to spend an afternoon than critiquing Patrick Stewart's career, fancasting a fatsuited Christopher Morris in your fledgling sitcom, and being REALLY meta, I'd like to hear it.

Back-Talk presents...

Euro-Talk: Mr. Ripley's Road Trip

Christophe and Ian go to the movies for Back-Talk’s third special opus. Ian eviscerates Adventureland, seizing every opportunity to champion Hüsker Dü and Bob Mould in the process. What does it take to get Ian to see a Harry Potter movie? If united in a single body, would Rebecca Hall and Scarlett Johansson form a Quato-esque abomination or sexy superbeing? Somewhere amidst this feature-length chat are the answers to these and other questions, as well as the pitch for a superior breed of teen comedy.

As well as a new special, here's the latest regular episode...

Episode Thirty Four: Traveling at the Speed of Hate

Normal service is resumed. Christophe and Ian dive into the bowels of French television and grasp every opportunity it presents them to tenderize Canadian accents. Some shows are better left unwatched; foremost amongst them is Babylon 5. However, Deep Space Nine and Sliders are the exact opposite. Sure, he enjoys singing on the show with him, but would Ian save Chris’s life if the Emerald Isle attempted to conquer England?

Sorry about the latest delay. Hopefully, the double-whammy makes up for it.

When you co-host Back-Talk, you get to know a few things. Foremost amongst them: expect technology to molest your happiness - or even simply a status quo of sorts.

Less than a day after releasing two of what I feel are our best episodes ever, the site's been thrown into turmoil. Chris is renovating, as I type. Hopefully, it'll be back by the weekend, according to his Tweet update. It pains me to have to keep apologizing for stuff we can't control, but there it is.

Argh.

Back-Talk presents Special #4...

"Gay-Talk: You Had Me At Wifeoid"

Back-Talk’s position within the gay community is contextualized. Ian calls “dibs” on Tina Fey. Meanwhile, Christophe is not above hitting on lesbians. If Ian doesn’t turn up to your fancy dress party in a costume, there’s probably a reason for that.

The last ten minutes or so of this conversation take a turn that brings new meaning to the word unprecedented.

The Back-Talk that almost wasn't...

Episode Thirty Six: Christophe's Bourgeois Handbook for Sophisticated Living

When Chris starts a story with “I was out the other night…”, “I was smoking as I usually do…”‘, or “I met this chick the other night…”, you know you’re onto a winner. When Chris starts off a story with all of the above, a very special Back-Talk’s in the making. The perils of sneaking a woman almost twice your age into your parents’ house and post-coital interruptions follow. Snickering ensues.

"Episode Thirty Eight: License to Douche"

Ian “I love The Cribs” Pratt lavishes praise and a fair amount of air-time on The Cribs. Christophe “I would rather listen to Limp Bizkit” Entressengle hates Franz Ferdinand. Irish politics = bumpkinism? Everyone from northern England is a “pig farmer?” In a turn of events best described as unsurprising, more stories about girls and nights out unfold.

"Rock-Talk: Dr. Kawashima's Groin Training"

The Back-Talk special over 40 episodes in the making… Christophe and Ian are joined by mutual friends/band-mates David “David Neild” Neild and Daniel “I hate Scousers” O’Connor! The gang assesses the relevance of bathroom attendants and acceptable tipping etiquette on both sides of the Atlantic. Bostonian cab drivers can be funny, but also dangerous. "Episode Thirty Nine: Time Craic - Part One"

Chris and Ian offer a glimpse of what life on the other side of the mic is like, by commentating on the “art” of podcasting for about twenty minutes. Privacy during “toilet time” is a good thing. If you went back in time, would it be easier to convince people from the distant past of your sincerity than it would people from last week? Ancient floozies mean more to Christophe than Ian does. There’s no time machine like a magical packet of cigarettes.

Episode Forty: Time Craic Part Two - Phantastic!

The exciting, absurd, and often obscene conclusion to our time-travels. Chris treats history like speed dating. Ian becomes a “Time Commando” and maintains his hope that, the further back in time you go, the greater the chance of encountering a magician.

Been a while...

"Episode Forty One: Don't Stop 'Til You're Numb"

Christophe and Ian are not only Back-Talk, the critical and commercial darling of the podcast world, but also back where they belong: making inappropriate jokes about iconic Marvel characters.

For this, their first episode since August, the pair ease themselves back in by discussing exploitation movies, The Walking Dead, and, of course, what took them so darn long.

As always, any comments and listeners would be appreciated. We've tried to spruce up the ole recording quality. I know that was always a sticking point with some people before and, hopefully, this will be an improvement. We're still trying to fine-tune, though (there's some mic ruffling, sorry) so if you could cut us some slack as well, we'd be awfully thankful.

Cheers.

Now we have a new theme-song*; ho ho ho...

Episode Forty Two: We Can Rebuke Piracy For You Wholesale

Childhood acting success, relationship counseling, Beatles Vs. Stones: Christophe and Ian laugh in the face of the sophomore slump with this, their second post-comeback episode. What are “Internet ethics?” Is art losing value in today’s fast-food culture? Will people ever stop caring about musical reality shows? These are just some of the questions your critically-acclaimed heroes tackle during this almost 2 hour opus.

Yes, our website may look like a nightmare (hey, what can I say? neither of us are that way inclined.) Yes, we might not have "name" power. As such, you may think "why should I bother listening?" Well, we put everything we have into the episodes themselves; call us crazy, but we think the most important thing about a podcast is the show itself, not the wrapping paper. So, while it might not come in the shiniest package or under the most lauded banner, we don't pander and we don't mince our words. We do, however, openly and honestly discuss whatever we think is worth talking about. We'd dig it if you joined the discussion. Cheers.

* Thanks again, Nick!

Episode Forty Three: iHave A Dream - Part One

They said we ramble a lot. They said they couldn’t hear us. Most of them didn’t say anything because they didn’t even listen. Nonetheless, Back-Talk has been around for 2 years. 2 years of laughter, excitement, and Simpsons references. Chris and Ian celebrate this milestone by making up a few blockbusters and talking about even more actual movies than usual. The birthday boys even find time to thank the small but mighty band of listeners they love so dearly.

"Let's just solve that one after we've vanquished Malcolm McDowell, shall we?"

Episode Forty Four: iHave A Dream - Part Two (Extraneous Subtitle)

Overdue. Over 2 hours. Very much over the top. Back-Talk’s birthday celebrations conclude with the imagining of a very different take on Doctor Who, a reflection on the highs and lows of two years in the podcasting game, and a look ahead to the future not just of the show, but recreation as we know it. In the words of Christophe, let’s just say this involves “perverting it to the extreme.” All of this (and so much more) for the not unreasonable sum of the amount of time it takes to watch a few episodes of Curb.
