Back and back again! Man, I'm happy.

Episode Three illustrates why we've decided to go with our new approach. We didn't want to lose some of our earlier discussions. However, the delay (and the constraints of editing multiple recordings) denied us the chance to unleash the episode at the ideal time. Fortunately, our Watchmen discussion was geared towards the G.N. as much as the film so it works as a retrospective discussion rather than being just another "so this film's out now - let's talk about it" chat. The same thing goes for the Troubles talk; we started recording our discussion about that the night before the first murders.

And Episode Four is a snap-shot of our free-wheeling banter from last night.
By free-wheeling you mean beer-fuled mayhem.

Mayhem, yes. Beer-fulled... well, I don't know about Chris, but I can assure you no alcohol passed my lips during the recording of either episode. Though, I can understand if the material suggests otherwise.

Speaking of alcohol, Ed, I was just dropping back in to say there was a recording where I addressed your Boddingtons mention. In the final stages of the edit, some recordings were proven unusable. I presume this was one of them. In said recording, I mentioned that I am (still) yet to try it, though I fully intend to do so. Apologies, sir! Every aspect of your question was, indeed, answered.

No alcohol? You call yourself an irishman?!

But in all seriousness, it's alright that you didn't answer my Boddington's question. The answer will come in good time.

Thanks, man! I've got some Magners in the fridge. If you'd prefer, I could break out with that for Episode Five? See what happens?
But your Irish, five beers is nothing. For me as a man with no tolerance, I will be off the walls with five beers: Yelling like Will Ferrel and being really REALLY gay.

I can only imagine the depraved embarrassment that would come from me drinking heavily during recording; what with me only recently getting started, I literally have no idea what it could hold. My educated guess at the likeliest scenario: me letting my countrymen and an illustrious stereotype down by falling well short of seasoned, "hardcore" drinking standards. Followed by much regret and scorn.
Followed by dead on James Nesbitt impressions. Either way Bobby, you have no reason to worry about being a competitor. And speaking competing, if I'm to be in Manchester in Aug of '10 I really got to a drinking regiment down.

Thanks, Ed! I assure you, if I continue drinking (hardly ever) the way I have so far, your victory is assured. To use an explicitly Chewer example, our drinking competition will be the end of Into The Blue: you will be Paul Walker and I will be Josh Brolin's face. Better yet, you will be the eponymous Mangler and I will be Ted Levine.

Agreed...

But if Bobby gets to do drunken James Nesbitt, then we all get to do drunken impressions.

I do a mean single malt fueled John Malkovich...

Cheers, Lima!

"Drunken Impression Showcase" would make a stellar mailbag. I'll pitch it to the 'Toff. If enough people are willing...
Agreed, see if Christophe could imitate Robbie Coltrane since he lives in Manchester or DCI Wise.

Also Bobby, I will bang out an e-mail regarding the prior two episodes soon enough. Thanks for the name drop in episode 4.

Ta very much, Ed! No problem.

While the man himself awaits forum approval, I must clarify that Christophe's Manchester jaunts are presently temporary. I'll leave it to him to spill the beans on his abode in an upcoming episode (it involves Patrick Stewart!)

He denies it, but the 'Toff is a veritable Cameron Frye when it comes to impersonations. I'll pass on the requests.

Just sent out my e-mail. It's a bit lengthy but I still think worthwhile.

Cheers, Ed! Looking forward to it; Chris is still Guardian of the Mailbag. All messages are worthwhile and I assure you (and everyone) no communication is too long for us.
I want to know if he'll answer my question on Canal Street.

And you two communicating strictly through skype or how does that process work?

A question about Canal Street? I'm looking forward to this mailbag even more now! I'd wager Chris will answer it. (And if not, I'll see what I can do.)

Yeah, we certainly aren't strangers to it. Though, I also use my web cam for recording any solo stuff (like Bachelor's Log.) Originally, we started out using a phone recording device which resulted in the distorted robot soundscapes of Episode One. Soon after, we started looking into other things.

Episodes Three and Four are, finally, up on iTunes. Thanks for the patience, subscribers! On a related note, maintaining and tweaking meta-data sounds surprisingly tough according to the C man. Is that my roundabout way of apologizing for the occasional blank fields on our listings page? Yes, it is.

Speaking of Chris, we just wrapped up another marathon chat. A selection of topics were discussed in detail. If you're thinking of sending us a message for the mailbag, it'll need to be fairly swift. Such was the length of tonight's chat, Ed, that we wanted to come at your message rested (Chris) and with sufficient beverages (me.) Solely for throat lubrication, of course.
I understand and I will do so in the future. If you give me an idea as to how long the messages can be. I will abide by such guidelines in the future.

Awesome stuff. Thanks, Ed! I long for the day when we can have voice mail messages for the 'bag. I'd imagine a minute or so would be perfect for voice clips. If we got an absolute cracker that went over that, it'd most likely find its way in, though. Whether voice or prose, any mail will inspire my glee.

By the way I've still not seen your latest question yet, Ed. I like to make myself wait.
Voice mails would help because the stuff I say could be really cut down. Of course after my latest entry on Podcaust. I now know not to call under the influence of head colds and NyQuil.

I see. Though I appreciate the seriousness of those statements, I'd like people to feel as though they can leave us a(ny) message in any condition or state of mind they see fit. If that means, "calling" under the influence of a medicinal substance, so be it. Please, come as you are. We always do!
That would explain all of the clanging going on. Was Christophe digging for snacks or something?

I'm not sure. In first/freshman year, his workstation was very Dennis Nedry so he could be rummaging for anything from various papers to obscure PlayStation imports (Policenauts!) In case you're reading, Chris, all this was intended as a compliment. And I can hardly judge as I'm usually on the hunt for that last Ritz Cracker or bumping around myself.

Apologies, if the background noise(s) bothered anyone.
They need to remake Policenauts.

It didn't bother me at all. I was just merely curious.

You really ought to write Christophe, Rob.

And cool, Ed. Thanks. That's good to know.

I spent some time earlier going through a hefty recording from the other night. Following that, an email outlining my thoughts (some understandable, others strange) was sent Chris's way. Contrary to our plans, the transition from heavily edited, long form chattiness to lithe, Zen Arcade style first-take shenanigans continues.

Weekly? I didn't realise weekly was the plan. Bloody nora, Frenchie'll be busy. I better get writing...

That's the plan! Well, we're working on a schedule so as to not monopolize his time too much. It's a gradual process. I look forward to your mail.

Sorry, scott! You were periodically checking back in every now and then, judging by your posts, so I didn't think you needed a "heads up!"

Oh you know me, im forgetful!

You are to forgetfulness what I am to not eating cereal, scott. Hugh and Barton will attest to the magnitude of that compliment. Have you listened to any of the newer episodes?

I will do so as i work on my art project, best time for me to listen to them.

Cool, thanks! They should occupy your ear space for, ooooh, a while (we're trying to condense; it's hard.) Also, good luck with your work!

Im back in Belfast all summer so if any help is needed you know where i am.

Top lad! Having you aboard may finally legitimize my long sought after "football special." If me and Chris do it, it'd just be an hour + of me talking and the Toff providing intermittent "uh-huhs" and a myriad of other grunts. We would have no such problem. Though, Chris would still be pretty bored; I'll probably have to promise him a Fallout 3 special to get the green-light.
The man isn't interested in Football? He calls himself an Englishman?!

I know. Typical. They invent the game and consistently churn out better players than us and guys like Chris don't even care. Whereas passionate fans such as myself and scott are left to watch clips of Northern Ireland's glory days from before either of us were born! It's outrageous.
And to think that was the country that invented hooliganism. For shame.

Which is funny, because the only time sports fans go into riot around here is when a championship is won. But here in LA and we haven't given a shit about professional gridiron football for 15 years.
Thread Starter
Those who inspired Green Street would be appalled.

That's fascinating. The problem with Northern Ireland (when it comes to football) is that we're so starved for success that we're almost too passionate. We've celebrated some recent victories almost to the extent other teams would celebrate a Cup Final win. It's sweet but pretty sad. That's what you get, in lieu of having a great domestic competition to get behind (the Irish League, as much as I love it, is lamentable.) The flip-side of that is the element who'd sooner throw seats at one another than watch the match (I'm looking at you, Glen men!)
I would think anyone who watched Green Street would be appalled by the fact these supposed badass Hooligans are drinkin' Fosters. FOSTERS, fer christ sake. Once I saw that scene, it just ruined it for me. That and Charlie Hunnum without his hair. But that's another discussion for another time.
Football is shit.
Thread Starter
If it happens, that discussion won't be purposefully specific (to the point of alienation for the uninitiated.) I'd rather keep it general. It'll, hopefully, do for football what Matt Groening wanted 'Futurama' to do for sci-fi. If you love football, you'll love it. If you hate football, you'll love it.
I would ruin it for everyone dude. I mean other than a tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny minority who cares about Crusaders. Though i could give updates on worldwide football.

Though sadly with a podcast it is impossible but a scott spotters-inc segment would have been good with video!
