Editing with P2 Footage...HELP

So I'm knee deep editing The Basement, and I keep running into this problem--getting FCP to play my footage without spazzing out. Sometimes it'll work just fine, but most of the time it'll play footage for 6-7 seconds and then act like it doesn't have enough memory to keep playing the footage. Video freezes up, audio skips. Press pause and play again, and the problem repeats. I have the sequence set at DVCPRO HD 108060i, same we recorded it in, and according to Panasonic the recommended preset for editing P2 footage. I have over 8GB of RAM and a GeForce6600 video card that has never had any problem displaying HD footage in RT before. I have over 1.5TB of space for my scratch disk. I can play HD footage from any other source, no problem. This stuff? It freaks out. And I can't figure it out. So, I turn to you, fellow filmmakers, for help. Or at least a point in the right direction, because the FCP manuals have jack shit about this.

It should also be noted that I can put it in a similar but different sequence, render it, and most clips will play fine. It's very hit or miss though, and slows everything down. I just don't know what I'm missing here.

Unlimited RT, yeah? Try disabling "remove pulldown" in the preferences?

It's so specific to different formats though, so issues vary wildly.

I've dealt with P2 only once so far, and it was a total bitch. I can ask some friends though, when I'm around the department tomorrow. Hopefully you have a solution before then.

I was just about to recommend this! It's a common issue with P2 to FCP.
