This leaked.

First impression wasn't all that hot, but it's holding up pretty damn well after a few more listens. Has more of an electro-feel to the production than their previous two. There are more subtleties and quirks in the songwriting, too.

Eh, once the freshness starts to wear off this becomes a mixed bag. 'Hysteric' is by far my fave track on here. Not many highlights, which is a bummer.

I expected this band to go in a new, exciting direction after Show Your Bones. This is almost a step back in many ways. The tight, focused songwriting of Show Your Bones is conspicuously absent, with nary a strong hook or chorus. The futuristic feel is all style with no substance. The only time I feel a drop of emotion is with 'Little Shadow'.

That's too bad. I didn't like Show Your Bones but loved Is Is. I was hopping a new album would be a return to form. I wonder if it's because Karen O is still hogging the spotlight like she did on Show Your Bones.
