Saving Games Without A Hard Drive

OK, I bought a 360 w/ a 20gb a few months ago, but had to return in the next day, after I got laid off from my job. I'm now in a position to buy a new one, but can only afford the arcade. I want to pick up Fallout 3, Fable 2, Mass Effect, Burnout Paradise, and SF IV, and was wondering how many game saves can I get without the hard drive. I don't want to dl anything or play online, but can I at least save my games on it?

I'm no help with your question, but it sucks you're going to miss out on so many free Burnout Paradise updates.

I'll get one eventually, just not at the moment.

You'll have to buy a memory card, and save to it. You won't be saving anything to the system. The memory card is $45 on Amazon, while the 100GB starter pack including a headset and 3 months of Live is $99.

I thought that the new arcade was going to have a small internal flash memory unit just for the new interface and a few game saves. Maybe that was just a rumor.

The internal memory was for the new dashboard and avatars.

The arcade comes with a 256 MB memory card, so that will probably save a few games. DLC will be a problem, though.

I don't need any DLC for the moment, I just want to play all these games I've been missing out on. I'll pick one up probably a month later when I have the money.

It varies pretty widely from game to game, but you should have plenty of room for most saves on a 256MB card. Even the largest save files are only a couple of MBs.
