Spinal Tap/Folksmen tour

Jesus. Concert season is getting expensive this year. Check it out. New Spinal Tap material on the way, too.

Shit.
- No MN date
- The Milwaukee and Chicago dates coincide with the latest software release from work. I HAVE to be here to work that entire weekend.

Fate is conspiring against me.

This is one of those shows where I'm excited about it in advance, but the crowd will make me hate myself, isn't it?

That's probably a sadly accurate prediction, Phil.

Holy crap, they'll be at the Hard Rock Live!
Awesome. Coming to Detroit a day before my birthday. Last one I got Kids in the Hall. I like the way my life is turning out.
sweet, tour starts here in Vancouver. Will be getting my tickets on Friday. I'm sure there's something else I'm supposed to be doing that day...
Oh man. I WILL be at one of these.

Acoustic Tap? I'm skeptical.
Wait... I thought the Tap stuff would still be electric, just without the costumes?! I read it as they were only going to do Big Bottoms acoustic?

My enthusiasm is way, way down if the whole thing is acoustic.

Then again, I'd probably go just to watch The Folksmen, so...

ETA: sonofabitch. You're right. All acoustic. Dammit.
My enthusiasm remains.

I love stripped-down shows like this. Hearing an artist put songs as familiar as these in a new context, with different instrumentation, is something I love as a fan of music.

And as a fan of their brand of comedy, I'd love to be there just for the stage patter.
Not sure why, but I'd rather if they're not going to be in character that they rock the rock. However, I'd love to see them do it acoustic in character.

Hello Cleveland!

And I agree, seeing them in character doing an unplugged set of Stonehenge and Hell Hole will be priceless.

WOULD be priceless.

No Europe dates? That's just wrong...

Nice. That's where my work has our Christmas parties. Decent venue.

EDIT: 10, 000th post!

Darkmite8: That was post #10,000 for you. Congrats on the milestone.

I'm only in if they do acoustic Jazz Odyssey.

Better here talking about Spinal Tap, than in the Gossip forum talking about some bad plastic surgery.

I'm convinced that the Fox Theatre exists to deter me from seeing live music.

"Hey, you want to see great live music from bands you love? I bet you do! Too bad the acoustics are absolute garbage. Enjoy!"

HATE. HATE. HATE.

Hate.

Goldberg, what show did you see there that had bad acoustics? I've never had an issue at the Fox. In fact, the Waits show last summer was one of the best-sounding concerts I've ever been to. The Tabernacle, on the other hand, is sonic death if you're not in the right place.

Damn, that's two days after my daughter's first birthday. I wonder if I can convince my wife that Keziah really wants to see Tap for her birthday,

No. It will. The power of positive thinking...haven't you ever heard of the fucking *Secret*?

Also, there *will* be bacon for breakfast that day. And good grammar for all. And puppies. And a model of Stonehenge will not underestimate the massiveness of the original.

Just got back from the unwigged show in Vancouver, kicking off the tour, it was a damn good show. There was plenty of tap stuff and there was loads of other "guest movie" bits but they did a good 'evening with'. There was a decent QandA and some folks came in costume / character, which was good but a little embarrassing (for them) highlights: bitch school, e a oe's, start me up, cheap ass stonehenge, super minimalist jazz big bottom, general banter. Lowlights: NBC's objections to "this is spinal tap", youtube videos to pad the show, less than 2 hours. Very happy to see these guys, great musicians (seriously), well worth the money. Post here if anyone else sees this tour.

I've got tickets for the May 26th Beacon show, so I'll toss my two cents up afterward.

Glad to hear it was well worthwhile!

I think I'd hate the hell out of this whole show. They've become the types they were poking fun of in the films.

The venue they played here ended up giving tickets away to this show. Wasn't even a contest, just a "print out this email" deal.

God, that video was depressing, Phil.
