DAmn, i love that story.
If it's true, having Big Daddy's roaming through 60's Ireland coastline looking for little sisters makes me wet!
Oh you sly son of a bitch!

As for the date, one thing I always wondered about Rapture was that you had this massive underwater city. Clearly Ryan must've made press about it. I always wondered who would manage the aftermath the city, especially because it sits in international waters.
I think reading Tati's comment gave me gonorrhea.

Very interesting direction for the game (if that ends up where the game goes).
Hmmm...I wonder which ending it will be following; or are we scrapping the whole main character storyline in favor of some other Rapture survivor? Questions to be answered in the coming months.

Still, very, very excited.

Yeah that's just my interpretation. I'd imagine they'd bring us back to Rapture, but thinking about seeing the Big Daddies menacing coastal Ireland is almost too awesome to consider. Could be almost Lovecraftian...

From little sisters to little teenagers?

Possibly, but the clipping lists the girl's age as 7. Hmm. Do they age?

Also, the Big Daddy is described as "thin". New enemy?
The 'good ending' seems to suggest that the little sisters age, maybe Rapture needs some fresh blood.

Maybe this "new enemy" is a group that has found Rapture and its secrets, and is now hunting down the children of the Little Sisters?
Yeah, im excited for this one.

Well here's the thing about that. You can't just throw down a massive city underwater without a word, there's going to be news about it.

Still, here's hoping they don't pull A Lost World and say that Ryan had a second city. Bullshit on that.

As for thin Daddies, Rosie's perhaps?

I'm pretty sure there's an ending in BioShock that shows the Little Sisters grown up, I might be wrong though.
There is, it's the good ending. The "Little Sisters" become grown women with familes.

You're right, I completely forgot about that. Course, it could just be a fever dream he had. Decompression sickness. Heh.
He's got a fever, and the only prescription is more harvesting.

True, there's was talk that splicing would lead to madness.
I hope in the sequel, when you meet a character, they automatically won't try to kill you.

It would be a great twist if it was actually Jack that had snapped, started kidnapping girls thinking they were Little Sisters.

He did like to dress like a Big Daddy, after all...
Well who doesn't in the private confines of an S&M club?

I think it would be freakier if/when we go back to Rapture it's completely rebuilt and we have to figure out how.
Tis true, and lords knows you don't piss off an irishman.

And Jack did have all that Adam at the end. I mean where the hell did that shit go?
Wait, I thought that the implication in the first one was that Jack was engineered to not go crazy from splicing? I only played through once, and that was a while ago, so I may be mistaken.
It sickens me how few of you seem to have gotten the good ending on Bioshock.

You harvesting fiends!
I got the good ending, but only because I wanted the achievement for not harvesting them. I think it was for 100 points.

If you want the kickass powers, you need the Adam.
The difference in ADAM is pretty small if you choose to not harvest the Little Sisters verus harvesting them.

Yeah you got more ADAM right away by harvesting them but by saving them for every 3 you save you get a special "gift" at the next station with a buch of ADAM among other helfpul items.

The difference is very small and by saving them you get a greater emotional investment in the game.
Like Alex said today, I also planned on harvesting, but then just couldn't. At that moment, I realized Bioshock was something more than special.

If they can pull off getting the game out of Rapture, the sequel will have the potential to be phenomenal, instead of a very good remake (i.e. God of War II).
Agree with the GOW 2 comment. I loved it but it felt just like a rehash of the first with a couple new moves and an exessive amount of boss battles.

I do hope we get back to rapture at some point...or perhaps around the outside of Rapture. That was something I always wanted to see. After seeing the the very beginning moments of Rapture when you see the Blue Whale swim between the builidngs of the city I always wanted some level or area that would let you go outside, especially once you got to be a Big Daddy.

It would be really amazing to have to be engaged with a Big Daddy encounter and be suddenly blind sided by a great white or something.

*raises hand* I have *never* harvested a Little Sister.

By the way, thanks for the info Alex. Much appreciated. Of course, now I want more information. :-(

Me telling you that info was coming and this hitting was completely unintentional, I assure you. Nice coincidence, though!

But the guys at 2K are big fans of the site so we'll have lots more on this one...

Is there any chance the sequel isn't going to be about a return to Rapture to rescue someone/destroy something left behind/put an end to the madness once and for all? With maybe the first few levels taking place on the mainland, with the protagonist looking for a way to return.

Also, to the 2K guys who apparently frequent the site: boss battles with Adam-mutated sea creatures, por favor. Get on that bitches!
An opening on a large cruise liner for an all-new protagonist. I don't want to feel that the good ending was overidden just to accomodate a sequel.

That would be very interesting. There was the one Big Daddy welding on an airlock during the ride into Rapture. Are they sentient enough to know when something needs fixing?

Man, I can't wait for this game. I'm going to scour every inch of that website.
The site is interesting. I wonder if this Jeremiah Lynch character, or whoever he is sending these notes to(Sgt. Whelan?), will be part of the game. It would be interesting if this site is going to act as the prologue to the story we'll be playing through.

I wouldn't exactly call Rosie thin so there must be a new version of Big Daddy? For all we know Dr. Whatsherface is still holed up in her lair working on advanced Daddies. It's been a while since I've listened to the diaries but the Daddies were over-ADAMed Rapture citizens, right? She'd probably still have a wealth of nutbars to pick from even after the destruction of Fontaine. I can't remember if there was a vetting process to the Daddy selection or not.

What's with those footprints? It looks like the bottom of a shoe... except for the toes. And "unusually long stride"? Something new, methinks...
The footprints look like clown shoes (narrow heel, exceptionally wide toe) even before you factor in the weird protuberance at the tip of the toe.

The timeline is weird, too. The first game took place in 1960 so that means Maura was born probably at the time the first game happened, maybe shortly after Jack took down Fontaine and freed the Sisters?

Blerg, I'm sure this is going to be a holiday game. Nine months is entirely too long to be obsessing about this.
Maybe the Big Daddies have shed their scuba gear?
Possible SPOILER

The new enemy revealed???

"Big Sister?" It's so obvious that it makes sense.
I remain skeptical about this, mostly because I can't imagine it living up to the original. It's interesting, because I've never before felt that way about a video game. Speaks well of the original.
As excited as I am I can't help but feel the same way. Everything about the first Bioshock was just so well done and polishd and satisfying(well the end cutscene could have been a little longer) that to equal the original, let alone do anything to improve upon it has gotta be a daunting task for 2K.

But I still can't wait.

I've only ever felt this level of anticipation for two other games in recent memory...God of War 2 and GTA 4. Ane while I loved both I was left disappointed by both as well especially in God of War 2 so I hope that is not the case here.
Just as head's up the site somethinginthesea.com has been updated a couple of times with more goodness.

I can't remember on what site I stumbled upon yesterday but I saw a throwaway line that some game blog has seen the game in action but won't reveal any info until April.

First Big Sister image. Not too much of a spoiler at this point, I suppose.
Damn you work blockage!
Ya know, I don't know if I like that. Part of why the Big Daddys worked (for me anyway) was the fact that they were so huge and intimidating and their size and demeanor added another, for lack of a better word - creepy (not in like a pervy sense, though) to their relationship with the Little Sisters. That said, it doesn't lessen my excitement for the game and I'm sure once I see "her" in action and context I'll be converted.

I'm sure if I sat down and thought about it I might have problems with it like Jeremy does but at the moment I'm still in that "Holy shit that looks awesome and creepy and weird!" phase.
Now we're talking. Thanks Alex.

Looks Metroid-esque.

Fixed.
