This has been a weird week. A few months ago, I submitted my film Ramen Noodles to the Sarasota Film Festival. I had a feeling it would get rejected, as it really isn't there thing, but I figured it was shot locally in Sarasota, Fl, and I was formally an intern there, so why not?
It got rejected, but the intern instead of doing a blind copy CC'd all the festival rejects, revealing everyone's email addresses to everyone else. All of a sudden everyone is contacting everyone else, furious over this interns error.
I have never seen this many emails in my inbox, in such a short period of time. I must have hundreds in just the last few days from other filmmakers, that was weird enough, but then out of nowhere.
The Sarasota 350, as we started being referred to got a story on the front page of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune regarding this story, and then one of the people that was rejected mentioned that he was going to organize an alternate film festival, kinda like Slamdance, that would occur during the Sarasota Film Festival, and only allow the rejected films to play.
At first I thought the dude was blowing smoke, but it's actually happening. I don't know the venue yet, but my film Ramen Noodles be playing in Sarasota, Fl. at the Sarasota 350 Film Festival sometime on the weekend of April 3rd! This will be the Film Festival premier of the film.
