Patrick, I'm sure you did a great job in the role, but considering who I've seen and heard play the role previously, you are the last person I'd think of to play Thenardier.

In the productions I've seen, he was a Bob Hoskins type. I played him more as Roy Scheider in All That Jazz. Flamboyant, dangerous, and sexually ambiguous. I think I even kissed Marius in one performance, just to fuck with him.

I dunno if that was a good choice or not. But I was 16, and it was a fun choice.

Ditto the Goldblum thing. Although the fried chicked photo and gollum teeth are pretty seared in my brain as classic Patrick.
