I know it's a full moon outside, but RIGHT after posting in the Raconteurs thread, I found this:

http://www.spin.com/articles/jack-white-forms-new-band

First single, 'Hang You From The Heavens':

http://www.culturebully.com/wp-conte...he-heavens.mp3

B-side, cover of Gary Numan's 'Are Friends Electric?':

Official site is already up:

http://thedeadweather.com/

Also, the Spin article misspelled the album's title. It's Horehound, not Horebound.

What's a Horehound, you ask? According to wiki:

More Jack White = a more gooder world.

Is it in the stimulus bill that Jack White needs to be in every band?
I don't think Jack White sleeps

I've been reading stories about this and I'm pretty surprised that so many people in the comments section of various sites apparently have no idea that he played drums originally.

Also, i wonder if his voice will ever get better. The slipped disc and bronchitis he went through really messed up his voice as seen on the Final Conan show.

Great news. I hope it is as good as his other efforts.

Any news? I only found one review.

2nd single 'Treat Me Like Your Mother':

Aces. The way they use an organ in this tune really brings it to life.

This just might end up being my fave Jack White-related effort since The White Stripes' Elephant if the first two singles are any indication of the album's direction.

It seems the critics love it or hate it. As a Jack fan, I love it.

The Dead Weather's highly anticipated debut album, Horehound, is available to listen to in full and for free, exclusively on iLike for the next 24 hours HERE

I'll have to wait until tonite when I get back from work.

*groans*

Shiiiiit. I have to wait too. This is going to suck.

I love how weird, skeavy, and dark it sounds and I mean that as a compliment.

Most performers would probably come across as campy in this gloom and doom sounds but these four sound really good.

I'm lovin' this. I thought The White Stripes were getting a tad stale, but this...this rocks to the core. Could be the best band Jack White's ever been a part of. I kinda wish he'd keep his focus solely on The Dead Weather. This is career-defining material.

I will be listening this tunes a lot. 3 birds and No hassle night are perfect. Even if I listened Will There Be Enough Water earlier I am still amazed how good it is. Thanks, Ray, .

Woohooo I'm seeing Dead Weather at the Wiltern in august. Admittedly my seats are on the Mezzanie on row H and I have to somehow figure how to get off early from work but I cant wait.
I've been trying to work the logistics of this one out myself. Still going to shoot for tickets, though.
I enjoyed No hassle night at the stream release. The last track will there be is great too. I am starting to hate Jack production values, I hope his next move is working under another producer. Even that I will kill for an opportunity to see them live.

Any thoughts?
Not as crazy about it as I thought I'd be, even though I think VV is awesome and obviously Jack White too. I'll give it another go, but after two streams I usually find one or two songs to pick up on. Not so much with this one.

I don't think this album will hit all the Jack White fans right out of the gate. I love the production for one--it gives the proceedings a stylish atmosphere and tone reminiscent of a vintage black-and-white flick. It's a bouncy, rough-around-the-edges affair. There's always something interesting going on.

Give it a chance. It's worth the unusual ride. Frankly, it's the kind of album Jack White needed to record to get all of his musical whims in motion.

Too early to say anything about its continual replay value and appeal, but there's an excitement running in the music that I'm really jibing with.

I listened way too easy without interruptions, that's a good sign.

I like it a lot more than anything by the Raconteurs. Just couldn't get into them for some reason. I like the Kills and this feels like a nice marriage of Kills/Stripe dynamic.

Still doesn't top the Stripes, though.

She's improved some over the years, but her meter is all over the place, and she shows an inability to move her arms and feet independently. Her extremely simple drumming drags down a few songs - particularly a few on Elephant, which also happens to be my favorite Stripes album.

But, the White Stripes works because it's mostly about attitude. Meg's simple drumming leaves the rest of the tracks open for Jack White to fuck about and do some really off-kilter, interesting stuff.

But here, we see Jack White as a competent drummer playing with three other talented musicians who know what they're doing. There's infinite potential here.

They were on Fallon just now. It didn't do too much for me, honestly. I'm sure it'll be up on The Hulu tomorrow, for those who missed it.

I called it: people are already making "Cunt Like A Buffalo" jokes. Le sigh.

I saw them at The Wiltern on Tuesday. The songs sounded so much better live. It was a great show and I'm glad I can finally say that Ive seen Jack play his guitar live even if it was just for one show. Whole lotta fun

Re Feral Akodon's previous posts: Bullshit.
This disc sure deserves more praise and attention to details. Perhaps it's too demanding.

Listened to this again about a week ago. Holding up pretty damn well. Definitely one of the best albums of the year.

Since there isn't an Jack White's all purpose thread: great interview on RS http://goo.gl/WYWo

Do you remember anything about writing the riff to "Seven Nation Army?"
There's an employee here at Third Man named Ben Swank, and he was with us on tour in Australia when I wrote that song at soundcheck. I was playing it for Meg and he was walking by and I said, "Swank, check this riff out." And he said, "It's OK." [Laughs] The even funnier thing about that song is that the labels in America and in the U.K., neither of them wanted to put that out as the first single. It just shows you that you really never know.
