The new dlc isn't very action centric. You fight one new enemy type and only that enemy type for the entire 90 minutes or so and there's only about 6 or 7 of them in the entire episode. The first half is entirely puzzle centric, but it tries, and in my opinion succeeds, at being an atmospheric, recreation of the first game's mansion. There's even an easter egg that lets you play the dlc with the old school fixed cameras. Only tried this for a few minutes, but it's a neat novelty. You unlock the other camera position by trying to open the front door a few times.
You can't save anywhere so you have to beat it in one sitting. It's much more of a survival horror style episode, than action centric. I thought it was worth the five bucks and theoretically the replay is decent because you play it the first time as Chris, but can play as Jill after beating it once and then you could play the whole thing in the old school style a third time. I might play it once more, but that's about it. Ending is anti-climactic. I thought I was failing against the final boss and then it just ended.
The more familiar you are with the original PS1 game, the more likely you are to enjoy this episode.
