My DVD store has La Strada!
I'm onboard.

My friend is not coming thru for me with Umbero D. I will have to pursue the film myself. I also vote for La Strada.

What would you recommend? Just out of curiosity for my ever-expanding LoveFilm queue.

My favorite Fellini is The White Sheik. It's lighter and funnier than most of his later work, and introduces the character of Cabiria.

"Lighter" and funnier certainly sound like ideal ways to get introduced to this guy's work.

Added, ta!

Not to be Keen McKeen or anything, but I saw La Dolce Vita. Hooray, my first Fellini!

Not much response lately. I think I will go ahead and get La Strada and start a thread if nobody else does in the next week.

I assumed everyone involved in this had died. Yay!

I got La Strada via Netflix if it's going to continue.

I'd suggest Scorsese's documentary on Italian films if people are looking for ideas to continue. I certainly wouldn't object to a comedy at some point.

Sorry about the lack of activity here, I've been (and still am) swamped with schoolwork, so besides the few I saw yesterday, haven't seen hardly anything. Someone can start a thread if La Strada is the next choice, I have seen it twice and would certainly contribute.

I had to put one of my cats to sleep several weeks ago and have not had the energy to do much. And I will be moving soon and will have to start packing soon. I still want to continue doing a discussion group --just may be a few weeks til I get back on my feet.

Man, you know what this group really needs? A western comedy in spanish.

If only there were such a thing...

It's the kind of film everyone here would like, too. Availability might be an issue, though.
Bah, something worth seeing is worth having to look that little bit harder for.

Where is the "Blazing Saddles" of Spain?

It's so much fun, but it's not Blazing Saddles - it's a different beast entirely.

Alex de la Inglesia eh? Iv'e seen his Day of the Beast and loved it. May have to check this one out. Thanks for the tip.

If by "may" you mean "will" then yes, I agree.
