Peggle (XBLA)

Oh no, a new obsession.

The guys on the 1up Yours podcast have raved about Peggle for ages. I must say that after playing through the first level on the trial game I didn't quite get what the draw was. Then I hit the last orange peg and the fanfare kicked in* and I started to fall in love. By the end of the fourth trial level I was hooked. When the ball soars across the screen and somehow hones in on a peg that seemed impossible to reach I get way too excited. And the lucky bounces where the ball makes it into the bucket at the bottom? Forget about it. Are there drinking games related to this game? And if not, why the hell not? I'll be buying the full version of this, hard drive space be damned. I need more MS spacebucks.

*It is ridiculous that I can't remember the name of this piece of music. It's one of the most famous pieces ever and I'm totally blanking.

I played with the demo for awhile on Steam. Picked up the game last thursday after some brief partying was done. Stayed up till 4:30 finishing the adventure mode.

An addicting game...have you tried the party peggle mode yet? Looks like fun.

*Ode to Joy, right?
Yeah, Ode to Joy.

...I played this for three hours straight on Friday night.

My wife is a damn Peggle savant. I never thought I would see the day I'd get home from work and she'd be parked in front of the TV playing video games.
Fuck you people for getting me addicted to this.
Count me amongst the fiends. Peggle is crack. DAMN THEM!
We need a chewer 4-player match this weekend. I want to hear Peggle trash talk from, you know, non-assholes.

My wife doesn't see the appeal. She's become re-addicted to Bookworm instead. Fuck PopCap Games and their virtual crack.

Also, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSSGl...eature=related
The magic happens around 1:23-1:28 or so.

I downloaded a Peggle demo for the pc several weeks ago, figuring I'd delete it after ten minutes.

I now own three full Peggle games.

<queuing up the trial now...>

Man, I don't know if it's just cause I'm rubbish at the game so far, but it seems one lucky ball catch in the bucket can be all the difference between passing and failing a stage.

And screw you all for making me play this the past hour and a half.

And and, those slow-mo zoom ins on important shots, like your last ball or a huge bouncing shot that *might* hit the last peg are intense!

It's about the angles and the timing, man, the angles and the timing.

...anglesandthetiming anglesandthetiming anglesandthetiming...

*wanders off muttering 'morepeggle' to himself repeatedly*

Who does everybody use? I find the rabbit to be the best all-around. Magic Hat + bucket catch FTW. Zen owl is a close runner up.

Goddamn, those are some nerdy sentences I just wrote.

Zen Owl followed by Egyptian Cat. That pyramid has saved my ass many times.

Owl followed by Rabbit for me. The Owl has saved my bacon plenty o' times. I'd be up for a Chewer Peggle Party this weekend. I haven't tried the party mode yet.

1) "A lot of chewers are talking about this one being addictive, guess Ill use those leftover points and check it out"
2) "I guess its fun, but Id better clear some Galactrix missions...holy fuck, I landed on the 100.000 hole!"
3) "Cleared all orbs! yes, motherfuckers!"
4) "Wait, wasnt I supposed to have dinner 3 hours ago?"

Thanks for the new gaming addiction, you bastards!

Not many games will get me to yell out "Yes!" and pump my fist. But that is exactly what happens in Peggle, when I'm down to my last few balls, and there are way too many orange pegs still on the board. It looks like there's no hope of clearing the board. Yet I pull off a couple miraculous shots with just the right richocets, including getting saves from the bucket. I've pulled victory from the jaws of defeat, and it's a little embarrassing how excited I get.

The only reason I don't own this yet is that I was kind of hoping that it'd get released on PSN as well, and the only reason I really care about that in the first place is that my mom has a PS3 at her place as well (it's her blu-ray player and she LOVES teh Puzzle Quest) and she'd love to play it as well. She has it on her laptop, and I know about the joy of Peggle since SHE introduced it to ME (bizzare-o!). I've got it on my iPod already.

I have 800 MS points lying in wait, so screw the waiting... I'm gonna snag this tonight, and if I have to get it again on PSN in the future for mom then so be it.

I probably haven't experience all of the characters... but I was always rather fond of the Pumpkin Ghosty guy, where the lost ball would reappear up at the top again.

eta: Peggle = Crack.
Haha playing this as we speak , it is PC Crack. I use the Dragonball - love it.

It's taken me a few weeks to chip away every now and again in work, but I've cleared Adventure mode with Ultra Clears (ALL pegs gone) on every level - WARNING - Extreme Time Sink.

I do this too, but with no embarrassment save for the two cats staring at me like I've absolutely lost my mind.

They just don't understand. Their little minds can't fathom the greatness that is Peggle.
Damn you little ladies. I'm gonna have to get this game.
I'll be back with impressions in a few days.

I better not get hooked, i do barely nothing as it stands already!
You're doooomed, Tati!

Peggle is on the way for iPhone. I fear for my health/sanity/family life when this happens.
the girl and I were high fiving last night around 2 am when a level that was giving us issues was finally beat. It was glorious.

This game could be the catalyst for world peace.

Tati says he'll be back with impressions in a few days. We'll see his pale, sickly frame in about eight months.

I would like to take this opportunity to say: I hate you all. I could've cured cancer or AIDS. I could've fed, clothed and sheltered the homeless. I could've led a revolution for free universal health care. Shit, I could've made dinner tonight.

But because you assholes had to alert me to the existence of this game, I'm gonna spend six hours at work doing nothing except dreaming of little multicolored pegs and the best way to rid myself of them, while Ode To Joy screams at obscene volumes in my head.

You have no idea what you cost this world.

Fuck all of you,
it was 6pm, i had come home from the gym, was tired, wanted to chill for a while and go to bed early. Watch a movie maybe. Decided to try this thing out, i had it for days but couldn't be bothered with it. It's been 3 hours. And I. CAN'T. STOP.

To make things worse for you guys (cause I'm nice like that), are you all aware of the Orange Box-themed Peggle Extreme that's available for free on Steam? http://store.steampowered.com/app/3483/

A-ha, I don't have Steam! I am immune!

It was funny to see that half of the people on my friends list who were online last night were playing this. It's an epidemic!
I don't what i like the most, doing super long shots, the spooky balls or the clamps.

Damn, i love this fucking game.
I'm 5 levels away from finishing it!

The super-long shots, or the shots where you get a bounce better than God himself could create, are the best. That's when I give the biggest cheer.
Steam's free, ya mook! Download it and get on that! That's 10 free levels, plus you get to see a headcrab snacking on the Unicorn.

I'm 1 achievement away of 100% on Peggle Deluxe... Fucking 750k points level...
The iPhone version is great. PC is better, but it's nice to have some peggles in your pocket wherever you go, whatever that means.
