Better Off Ted - ABC - Page 2

Im liking this show...love how un PC its not afraid to be.
Oh, and the episode where Ted has to broke up his friendship with Linda's boyfriend killed me...Ted's longing back look at the guy is outstanding.
Also, "My white guy sucks!" should be quoted, a lot.

"It takes a village to kill a village."

Call me crazy, but a scented light bulb sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

"I'm glad we don't talk like this all the time... he added."

Another no VD commercial? Dammit.

Still, solid ep, even though you can totally tell the show is being sent to die, each and every week.

"You remember Bob Hitler?"
"No, I forgot the scientist named 'Hitler'."

Ted's Awesome Lightbulb Company.

The village line was great. But for some reason, my favorite line was, "So, it's ok to say 'suck' now? Cause I've got some ideas on the lunch you packed me yesterday."
Every show is on reruns right now but they showed a new ep of this yesterday? What the fuck, man.
Veronica sleeps with her eyes open. And purrs. Of course she does.

"God you're paranoid. No wonder the company has to secretly manipulate you."

Also, Mordor.

Heads up! New ep tonight at 8:30.

ABC is just screwing with us now.

Dalek in the basement!

Friendship. It's like stealing.

TAKING BREAKS MAKES ME SAD

"The company feels that if we ease up just because someone died, it will only encourage other people to die."

P.S. Two new eps in one night? What the hell, ABC.
I have been catching this on Hulu because I can't keep up with their stupid schedule. I really hope it isn't true, but this smells like a cancellation move to me for some reason. This show is really up there with Community and P&R for best new shows recently.

Wait, there were two eps last night?

< heads over to Hulu >
Apparently they'll be doubling up for the next two weeks, and then that's it. For the season order anyway.
And the networks continue to wonder why they can't produce viewer loyalty.
I think I can vaguely remember a time in the distant past when shows were on one time slot for an entire season. Or was that just 5 years ago?

NSFW, especially if they don't allow phrases like "poonguzzlers" and "square-jawed cum-puppets" at work.

Oh, Better Off Ted. We'll miss you when you're soon canceled, you shitlicking cuntboots.
This is like that episode of Arrested Development where they snuck in the names of all the cable channels they hoped would rescue the show.

So yeah, two new eps tonight, interspersed with Scrubs. ABC, you dickholsters.

P.S. Anybody not already crushing on Andrea Anders definitely needs to watch that clip.

As shitcocking, fuckdicking good as the cursey version of tonight's episode could've been, the G/PG rated curses were really cunting funny.

In fact, I'd say that first episode is by far one of the best, if not the best they've ever done. Janet S. Crotum, I'm not gonna lie, nearly killed me, I laughed so hard. I am a complete child.

The 2nd one was solid ("hours of repulsive fun!") but the 1st was so much gold, the 2nd was almost an afterthought.

Agreed. I want to quote from it, but I'd basically just have to copy and paste the entire script. Just great stuff.
jane s crotum got me pretty badly too, more teds line about being surprised it took the cursing for people to make fun.
"I need your help, slut"
"What's the problem, tight-ass?"
"Easy Linda, it's a memo, not a magic shield"

That one also reminded me of Veronica's "Pew pew pew!" from a few episodes back.

"Sex always screws things up. Why do you think the Three Stooges went through so many Curlys?"
Queen Linda of the Dainty Feet.
"Evil Scientists!"
"Eat me." "I'm going to teach you the word 'with."
Sadly, Better Off Ted continues to lead on TVbythenumbers' likely-to-be-cancelled matrix.

Not a surprise, given the way ABC is burning off episodes. Guess the strategy of throwing more sex into the storylines this season wasn't enough. Though, again, letting people know when and where to find new episodes this past fall might have helped.

I would have liked one more 13-episode season, but given the realities, I'd rather see it leave too soon than stick around until the inevitable decline sets in.
Watching this reminds me once again there's too many shows about doctors, lawyers, and cops/criminal investigators.
I work in product development. This show is gold.
I did not expect the cadaver subplot to pay off like that. I sex this show.
"DEAL WITH IT!"

I wonder if that was supposed to be meta...
Started to catch up to the show. It's great.

And Linda while not smoking hot, it's incredibly cute. I just saw the medieval fight club episode and that Xena costume...
Watching Season 1 right now.

"We've even got James Earl Jones to voice...JABBERWORKY!"
As the DVD set review indicates, though nothing official has been said, the series is pretty much over and done at this point. Better, I guess, to go out before it gets old, but I think there was one season left in the concept.

I'm fairly sure there's at least a couple unaired episodes in the can that I hope will turn up on the season 2 DVD's.
So seeing Season 1 up on Netflix Instant made me decide to start watching it and now I'm pissed at myself for not getting into it earlier. This show has some amazing comedy writing behind it.

Well, sadly, it looks as though you'll have plenty of time to catch up.
Nice. I hope Ted and Linda finally hook up.
Man, I hope they show them. There's no reason not to with the break and all.
You can blame Big Baby Davis if we don't see them: with the series tied 2-2 now, a Game 7 seems like a pretty good bet.

I just figure they'll turn up on the Season 2 DVD set, which has been sitting in my Netflix "pending" section for the past few months.
So basically noone's watching this? That sucks. I find it a hell of a lot funnier than COMMUNITY.
Well, yeah, the ratings were terrible. I'm sorry the rumored move to Fox or FX never happened.
It went to game 7. Fuck.

Hope they find a place to run them. Come on ABC, it's only 1 hour of TV. Have a fucking heart.
The last two episodes are available on Netflix instant viewing. For whatever reason Netflix has them in reverse order though, so I'd watch, "It's My Party and I'll Life if I Want To" before, "Swag the Dog" although in the end the impact is sort of minimal except for the last scene.

Too bad nobody else watched this show, it was one of the few comedies I've looked forward to in awhile.
Thanks for the heads-up.
This is a bump of missed opportunity.

On episode 9 of season 2, and I've realized that Better Off Ted pushes Community off its perch of best comedy since Arrested Development. I'm really sad that I've only got three episodes of this thing, but that goes up against my feeling that brevity is a good thing for TV. But going through the series, I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Anybody who loves AD should really warm to this show.

Agreed. This show was a blast. Hopefully everyone involved is still gainfully employed.
Worth noting, too, that they absolutely nailed the tone and style of the show from episode one on. No fumbling around with what kind of show it ought to be or whether certain characters should be more sympathetic.

If I can be happy with only twelve episodes of Fawlty Towers, I can be happy with this. But jeez it should have gotten more of a chance.
I thought this show was definately of the caliber of Modern Family, Community, Parks and Rec, and so on. It's seems like such a smal twist of fate that will kill a show, or make it a mega hit.
It's a shame that it was too cynical for the Thursday night block, it would've been nice to ride some of that Modern Family/Cougar Town wave. I'm just glad we got a season 2, that was an utter freak decision.

I'll be honest, I'm still smarting from losing Carpoolers after only 1 season. So underrated.

Just me? Okay.

That's funny, because that is exactly the reason why I might rate it just a wee higher than Community, though it is kind of a dumb enterprise trying to rate two objectively great things against each other. There was a trace of sentimentality in the show, hidden under mountains of wit, wordplay, and a sincere desire to not take the shmaltzy easy route. By the end of the second season the characters were cohering together without betraying their inner natures and without the pat sitcomesqe message of everybody hugging at the end of an episode.
