The thread of...Beard - Page 2

I've only shaved completely twice since I was 15, so almost 13 years. I'll get bored, and try different facial hair, or change it with seasons. I used to rock the thick goatee sans mustache, but red beard hair is the coarsest most horrible substance on earth. During the summer it itches like a motherfucker. I've been sporting a full beard about a year now, 2 guard all the way around, 3 guard on my chin, and 1 guard on my mustache, because like Jake I have a habit of eating it...

Just recently I've started growing out my goatee and soul patch. I always thought my facial hair grew kinda weird but letting it get kinda wild seems to do it some good. Now I'm kinda contemplating going full beard.

I wish i was warned as to how difficult having facial hair was though. I can never seem to keep it symmetrical.

Oh yes, the right side of my face grows considerably faster than the left. When it gets fairly long cowlicks start showing up and contribute to the desire to trim.

Kept a full beard since I was 15, no joke. It helps to get into places 15-year-olds shouldn't. I've only shaved it a handful of times to even it out.

Been fully bearded for maybe two and a half years now (am 24). After graduation, when the beard was pretty much at its peak in terms of length and shagginess, I spent a month studying in Mexico and was frequently assumed to be Jewish. Now I keep it at more reasonable lengths, though nothing too close-chinned or uniform. I've had pretty long hair for about twice as long (it currently reaches about my navel) and when it's down, the beard goes pretty well with it.

Agreed. True story: I was through puberty by the time I was 9 and had to start shaving when I was 10, I've had multiple forms of beard since I was 13, currently rocking extremely full mountain man version of it. My tip: Head and Shoulders that thing! Keeps it very soft and cuts out beard dandruff that sometimes happens from too much stroking.

Envy.

I had to grow, shave, regrow facial hair in various forms over several years until I could muster anything passing for a beard. After many attempts it's gotten fuller and thicker, but that very first goatee was a thing best forgotten: mustaches, stretched over smiles, shouldn't have bald spots. Eeesh.

Persistence is the key to bearding success.

Or an overactive pituitary gland.
