SMACKDOWN! President Obama's Press Conference March 24 2009

Christ when did we replace actual journalists with these fluff haired puppet heads? Some of the most inarticulate questions I 've ever seen, asked of one of the most articulate Presidents we've had.

The stage was set for the OBAMA SMACKDOWN!

Can we really say that we even have a 4th Estate anymore?

I read a blerb from an article yesterday afternoon that the administration had excluded those that had been critical of him of asking questions as punishment. Stars and Stripes were mentioned as fill ins -- sure enough, it appears they were given prime time press coverage.

I didn't watch the thing, its easier to just read the transcripts that are published before hand.

Washington Times was there, got a question in, and they aren't exactly fawning.

"Critical" of him, or those that suggested he was a socialist mooslim terrorist-luvin' fist-bumper?

I watched this last night (on Fox News, unfortunately, because it ran it late - how can anyone who watches Fox News stand that ticker constantly running on the bottom of the screen?) and thought it was excellent. I loved that he allowed outsider publications like Stars/Stripes, Univision and Ebony get questions in, and I thought his answers were straightforward and meaningful.

That said, the Fox News and CNN guys were scary. Honestly, do these people even go to journalism school?

Also: Fox News' first story following the speech was about the TelePromTer. Really, Fox?

I watched it on FOX simply because they seem to have the best HD broadcast in terms of picture quality.

Someone should really do a story on Obamas hair...I noticed a few grey strands in there.

I speak from experience when I say this:

Journalism school is a joke. These hacks probably graduated with flying colors.

True. But I watched Frontline last night and listen to Diane Rehm every day and those two outlets really punctuate how journalism has completely jumped the shark.

And The Closer, haven't you seen all the photo spreads showing how quickly presidents are going gray these days? Trust me, there have been zillions.

QUESTION: It seems like the action is coming out of New York in the attorney general’s office. It took you days to come public with Secretary Geithner and say, look, we’re outraged. Why did it take so long?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, it took us a couple of days because I like to know what I’m talking about before I speak.

Awesome.

Yeah Ive seen those...just being facetious.

I know my jokes are funny when I have to explain them afterwards.

I guess you have to be born with that journalistic gene. Unfortunately, most journalists today are born without it.

Well, part of the problem is the journalism schools themselves. They are teaching, without shame, this brand of journalism. A lot of kids that want to be journalist go in with good intentions but are sent out with a fractured view of the profession.

I think it would be more of a story if the president doesn't go gray after 4-8 years in the big chair. The Presidency ages you like a motherfucker.

There was ana rticle in either a medical or scientific journal not too long ago that talked about how, due to stress levels, a President ages roughly twice as fast as a normal person for the four to eight years he's in office.

I was kinda hoping for him to be afflicted with Eddie Murphy Syndrome...fucker hasn't aged in 30 years.

I say age the crap out of the motherfucker if it means Obama's work product is more Coming To America and less Meet Dave.

Clearly Obama shares the outrage

Because tomorrow he'll take questions from people on the Internet!

Wonder what his take on Transformers 2 will be?

EDITED TO ADD: Hahah all the questions posted so far are about legalizing Marijuana to save the economy!

Ed Henry tells his side of the story. Interesting quote:

I was heading into this event with the same strategy: make news on something unexpected.
Sounds like the goal was not to get information, but to grab a headline.

I asked if he'd ever consider raising the top marginal tax rate to pre-Reagan levels*, lol. I'm sure he wouldn't touch that one but I had to plug it in.

*and I promise I didn't do it to f&^% with The Closer.

I'm still trying to process the fact that this douche

1) Thinks a press conference with the President of the United States is really all about HIM

2) He thinks his job is not to ask questions that might give the public some insight into what their leaders are doing, but instead the public cares about HIM

3) He is really that unaware of how vapid, shallow, stupid, arrogant and clueless he is.

I hope Jon Stewart has him on soon
