Japan man proves he survived both atomic bombs

Wed Mar 25, 10:32 AM

TOKYO (AFP) - Japan has certified a 93-year-old man as the first known survivor of both US atomic bombings in World War II, in the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Tsutomu Yamaguchi was in Hiroshima when an American plane dropped an atomic bomb on August 6, 1945. He survived with serious burns and returned to his hometown of Nagasaki, where the second bomb was dropped three days later.

Yamaguchi had already been certified a "hibakusha" or radiation survivor of the Nagasaki bombing but was officially confirmed this week as having lived through Hiroshima too.

"I just wanted to clarify the horror only a double atomic bomb survivor could understand," Yamaguchi told reporters. "I hope to hand over the horror of atomic bombs and the importance of peace to our next generations."

Wow. I will never complain about having a shitty week ever again.

The museum in Hiroshima is amazing though, even though it made me feel more horrible than anything else in my life(that I had not directly been a part of). Just awful. And Japanese schoolkids wanted to talk to me!

Also, who the fuck was talking to you, you phoney dolt? Why don't you go pretend to be thoughtful and deep on the front page? You're less annoying that way.

I wasn't originally. I was just getting to the basis of the next 30 posts:

Unfunny joke.

But then Sandy Vagina took it the wrong way.

I hate to add fuel to the fire but... Somebody should really make an Indiana Jones crack.

Sandy Vagina sounds like the best name for a supervillain ever.

That story is beyond insane. Surviving both bombs dropping is crazy enough, but how did he not die of radiation poisoning after?

I've gotta agree with Nexus-7, no matter what unfortunate circumstances I may run into in my life I'll always have this guy to remind me it could be so much worse.

It turn out living things can survive a lot of radiation just find. When people die of radiative contamination it mostly likely a chemical reason. It take a lot of direct Radiation to kill something. Uranium and most of the other radiative isotopes are chemically toxic. Uranium will kill you not because it radiative, but because it a heavy metal.

You guys wouldn't think it so strange if you realized he's gigantic, regenerates, and slap-fights Baragon.

There. I filled the unfunny joke quota.
