I was drinking at my friends old place a while back and right down the street some dude got shot in the face in a drive by, the guy lived though.

On my first trip to yaletown I immediately named it Bum-town and only refer to it as such. China town / Strathcona being crackton. I live in the cambie / mount pleasant area and I love it.

I would say Yaletown is where you go if you want your pizza incredibly expensive and your people exceptionally bitchy.

English Bay is probably my favourite neighbourhood in the city, it encompasses all of the freakiness of Davie Village with the prettiness of the ocean and beach, and it's really close to downtown without actually being downtown.

Well that alway a problem living in any city some times the bad part of town is a block over form the good part of town. Living in a city in the developing world if anything can make it more extreme. I have been in a couple of cities were a nice walk can quickly turn into a live and death adventure, just by going around the wrong corner. see my whole 'staving guys run around with machetes and cannibalistic looks in the eyes' sentament.
