Looks like quality, long as they can keep it from becoming Not Another Action Game With Stealth Elements. That bit with grabbing the first available woman to hide from the Nazis shows promise, though.

Ohh. I missed this getting posted.

Fantastic screenshots, great ideas (including 'will to fight') and potential awesomeness all round

Then you had to go say this.

The game also appears to have a lot in common with Mercenaries 2, as far as the fighting and shooting systems, which ain't bad in my book.
Goddamn bugger it. I loved Mercs 2. I don't know why. I think it was the 'splosions. The shooting mechanics were absolute balls though.

I agree the sentiments of Monsieur Clark - but I suspect it'll end up being just an upgrade to Mercs.

This game's awesome. Art design's beautiful, soundtrack is fantastic, and the gunplay is really satisfying. Plus, it's a really fun revenge story at heart.

Shame it's going to get buried, because it's easily one of Pandemic's best.
Heard it has a great ending. Shamefully I'll check it out when it's dirt cheap.
God, I'd already forgotten completely about this game and I remember being intrigued when you first posted about it. Seems like it will be buried if they haven't bothered dealing out information to keep people interested.
Yeah... this game is amazing. Big fan.

One of my favorite elements is how they separate the zones. If it's Nazi occupied, everything is in black & white (for the most part) otherwise the colors pop all over the place in the other zones.

The code to unlock the nudity was a nice touch as well. Ha.

Yeah, I was pretty amazed when the game threw breasts right at you from the opening scene.

The first time you clean up an area and all the color comes rushing in... it's pretty amazing. I can't believe how clean and stunning the black and white noir sections look. They really did a great job with this.
Seeing a color zone way in the distance when you're running around a black & white zone is a really weird, but awesome, visual.

Some minor annoyances with the main character putting his gun away and not pulling it out in hairy situations as well as leaning up against walls when you don't want him to, but I'm dealing with it.

This will help fill the void until ME2 hits shelves.
Yeah, this looks like the goods, but a bunch of people have been telling me playing it at the same time as Assassin's Creed 2 will only highlight its flaws. So, I'll just be waiting till I'm done with AC2.
The main character of this game is so Irish he shits leprechauns.
Downloading this right now, looking forward to messin' up some frenchified nazi bastards.

Hope to have a review up soon, but it's looking like a solid B. It actually suffers from being too long, surprisingly. It'll take you 20 hours or so to do everything and there's just too many structures to blow up (literally hundreds). But it's entertaining as hell, and I've gone back after beating it just to liberate France completely and blow up some more sniper nests.
I tried playing it and my pc almost exploded. I really couldn't play ANY open world game this year. They all looked like shit and had framerates to be ashamed off.

I'll have to stick to fps and rts games for now
post #15 of 50
I was about to mention that this kinda came out with no fanfare. Glad to hear it's at least a B.
This seems to be getting really up and down reactions. I kinda want to give it a shot, but with other games getting ready to come out in January, this is kind of an iffy proposition.

I'd say it's definitely worth a purchase. The art design is some of the best you've ever seen- they really did the noir styles perfectly. The gunplay and fighting is great, and there's really no need for stealth in the game- you can play it as a mad bomber and get through everything fine. There are, however, the usual Pandemic bugs- cars flying off into the air for no reason, bodies hovering, buttons not doing what they're meant to do.

But it's pretty awesome to jump into an AA gun, blast aparrt every single Nazi structure in sight, and then shoot down a zeppelin, which falls to the ground in firey chunks.
Man, there sure is a ton of car driving in the prologue. Is the whole game like this? Driving vehicles with WASD is kind of a pain.

Sure is a good-looking game, though. When those planes came diving across the race track I let out an audible "WHOA, cool!".

There are I think four races besides the opener, three of which are optional. So no, not a lot of driving. Some of the cars you can get are pretty ridiculous, though.

Singer, grab your 360 controller (or, and I think with a little tweaking, your PS3 controller) and play it that way. That's how I've been doing it and it works like a dream. Everything is already mapped to the 360 controller. And, since it's a 3rd person action game, I don't feel hampered not using a mouse and keyboard.

Not the best game ever, but a fun little actionier. And, coming off of Inglourious Basterds, it's maybe kinda even more fun.

Thanks, I think I'll do just that. I had no idea how much of a GTA clone this was.

There's a patch going live for PC gamers in a bit- not sure if you guys have had these problems. http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/352835.page
post #23 of 50
I'm really enjoying this so far. It actually feels a lot like Assassin's Creed, but with a lot more stuff to do, and a lot more freedom in how you go about doing it. Sure, it's a bit clunky and frustrating here and there, but it's a lot of fun.
The Terror Gun is the best. It's a sniper rifle/shotgun and it rocks. I'm having trouble getting some of the perks and I most likely won't be doing 800 plus free-roaming missions unless I'm really bored.
Hadn't heard about this game before Alex bumped the thread on the 10th. Being buried in Fallout has allowed alot of games to creep up without my dwelling on the wait. I'm burning through Wolfenstein this week (which I'm loving more than I thought I would, RTCW is like a first lover...you never forget it!)

This looks (and now sounds) great. Collaboration and resistance was a big area of my Third Reich studies so this sounds as up my alley as a game can get.

Waffling between waiting for gamefly to cough one up or just bite the bullet and buy it point blank(something console game prices tend to discourage). My real concern is how much can be wrung out of it and replay potential. You guys are doing a great job selling me on it though.
This game is selling for $39.99 at best buy this week.
FUCK. I just bought it at Gamestop (shaddup, I was right near one already) for $59.99 yesterday morning.

I mean, didn't you feel that icy cold hand on your shoulder when you walked through the door? And you still didn't stop?!?
Argh. I'm stuck on an early mission where I have to drive a truck with a Lost-Arc-type box in the back to an ambush point and then fend off a large number of nazis. My escort keeps getting killed, and when I try my best to protect her, I get killed, and then I have to start over from the beginning.

I hate pc games with no quicksave function.

That's one of my secret fetishes, actually.
Late to the game, but I grabbed this yesterday and am really enjoying it. Plus I got the naked patch. So, erm, yeah, BOOBIES.
I've been playing it for the last couple of weeks. Really solid and fun. It's nothing remarkable, but blowing up nazi shit never gets old.
Been addicted to this for a while now, trying to destroy every Nazi tower and AA gun in Paris is one of those 'just one more go' things, it's ridiculous how many there are to do.

Apart from the worst Irish accent since Connery in The Untouchables and some rough around the edges elements it's a brilliant game, the Paris they've created is very evocative and atmospheric especially the black and white segments.

I came off Assassins Creed 2 right into this so the climbing mechanic was quite frustrating for me at first, having to press A everytime to move from ledge from to ledge is a pain, but you get used to it soon enough.
I feel like there isn't enough BOOBIE discussion. :P
post #35 of 50
Why do I keep getting booed when I go onstage
post #36 of 50
I want to dance for the nice men
Alex was right. It IS too long. Mainly because the map is huge and there's so much stuff to blow up, between missions i always spend a good 15-30 minutes blowing random shit up.
I don't have Live so I couldn't get the boobies. It is a sad day.

It seems like there's a number of times where you have to practically drive all the way across the map just to talk to a guy, and then drive all the way back. And if you end up having to foot much of that...

You can't plug an ethernet cable into your 360 for five minutes?

I didn't actually think it was that easy, I assumed you had to sign up to Live and pay a fee and all that malarkey. Never had any interest in multiplayer stuff so I've never looked into it.

Might give that a go though if I get free boobies out of it.
Just sign up for XBox Live Silver which is free and allows you to download DLC and Demos.
I know it's a GTA clone, but I really like the idea of using that game style to explore different kinds of stories. I'm having a blast with this, and I think it would be really neat to use this kind of gameplay for other games. Imagine a GI stationed in Saigon hunting for Communists and Vietcong.
What i really do hate is the driving from side to side of town for every fucking mission. You spend 10 minutes per mission just driving around. Feels like a total filler.

Rest of the game's awesome. Glitches aside. And there are plenty. How did this do? It deserves some success.

Specially love planting bombs in car and jumping at the last minute while the car crashes and explodes into nazis.

Btw, i get to see the Eiffel tower all game long, i imagine the final season is on top of it, right?
This is fun, but it feels really cheap in comparison to other recent open world games. I can't stand the dialogue, especially when it's coming out of the main character's mouth, but the core game isn't too bad.
Trevor get off the stage

But yeah, it's not terrible at all which is honestly what I expected.
I would love this game x10000000 if you could do a male burlesque curly shuffle onstage. Why don't games let you do shit like this.

Hey Jake let's go off topic real quick - did you get General Knox Y/N
post #48 of 50
Not yet! Probably this weekend.
So yeah, late to the party but figured this needs a bump. Playing it side-by-side with Just Cause 2 isn't particularly fair on this - JC2 is just that much more user friendly, as well as being absolutely stunning to look at.

But this is hardly an ugly game, the black-and-white concept's actually really subtle and brilliant, the soundtrack's superb and I found myself enjoying the story until I got distracted by simply blowing stuff up. It's a natural evolution to Mercs, but mowing down a vehicle filled with nazis using an mp40 is still bizarrely satisfying.

It's also quite nice for a game to let enemies die after a couple of shots, instead of the constant punishment most game villains seem to take. It's groovy.

That said, i've done almost no missions - most of the hours sunk into it have been destroying stuff to rack up points. It's a game unto itself there.

Really enjoying this.  The game's controls are wonky, the story is very unentertaining , but there is nothing in this world more satisfying that blowing up Nazis.  This is one of those games I probably wouldn't trade or sell as going back just to blow something up can be done over and over again for years.

You can probably find it now for $9 - $11, making it well worth the cost.
