Yes, that is a repeat. Please stop posting it.

If the Brewers projected top 2 of Manny Parra and Yovani Gallardo come through, their chances improve. They've got the bats.

In the Central the Cubs are favorites* and the Pirates should be last....the other four teams are a complete tossup depending on how things break.

* - aside from the fact that historically the Cubs can fuck up a wet dream.

I don't know whether to tell you to add my boys (Cardinals) to that list or not.

You lucky bastard. I've already told the wife the next years vacation will be in Minnesota. Can't wait for that new stadium to open.

You forgot the Phillies.

Also, went to Citi Field on Friday, and it's fucking gorgeous, from the rotunda to how much better the view is from, well, practically anywhere. The food was also surprisingly good, what with the Shake Shack and Blue Smoke out on the Center Field Concourse.

But to get back on topic, Schafer is getting off to some start, eh?

Colin Cowherd was flipping out last week that both Citifield and the new Yankee stadium have a bunch of seats with obstructed views and how crazy that was since billions were spent to create them. I might make it up to the New Yankee stadium to catch a game but some of those ticket prices are crazy eddie insane.
Citizen's Bank Park is pretty damn good, Monk. I want to see how Citi Field stacks up. So it actually has sections that go past the foul line, now?

FUCK THE PHILLIES. BUNCH OF LOSERS CAN'T BEAT THE BRAVES.

It going to suck this year going to New York if this team implodes. Myers and Moyer better bring it.

It was an exhibition game so it wasn't much on my end, as for obstructed views, well, you'll have a hard time finding a ballpark where every single seat has a completely unobstructed view.

Coming from Shea (let alone the old Yankee Stadium), whenever I visit a park built in the passed twenty years I feel like I've traveled to some distant future, where ballparks aren't just glorified holes in the ground.

Opening day has been postponed until tomorrow here in Beantown.

THANKS A WHOLE FUCKING LOT, WEATHER.
Please God I cannot take another year of complete failure and collaspe like the past two years, I'm serious, I'll die so please let them at least make the playoffs...

Sincerely,
A Mets Fan

Feels like another Marlins year to me.

Rain delay on Opening Day? Fuck that noise. C'mon, I needed something to do while I was supposed to be doing work down here!

Stupid BrightHouse not carrying ESPN360....
How is BrightHouse for baseball? I have Comcast and don't even get NBA TV.
It's called MLB At Bat, I've been streaming the Reds broadcast all afternoon. Best $10 I've ever spent.

BrightHouse in Orlando just added the MLB Network about a month ago, but they have a pretty limited game schedule. They offer the Extra Innings package, but I'm not enough of a baseball fan to spring for the two hundred bucks it costs. They are having some kind of free early bird preview from today to the 12th though.
MLB.TV is a better value, I imagine.
I was going to do that last year, but I didn't take the plunge. A few days ago I saw that it's cheaper this year and in HD. I might have to go for it.
Yeah, it looks pretty sweet. I've never purchased it because, naturally, I'm too much of a homer to get much value out of it.

But I'm moving out of the area this summer, though, so I'll certainly take the plunge then so I can follow the Phils.

A few friends of mine use it, and rave about it. The HD apparently looks great (they had it available for Spring Training).
Come on, people, there are 23 teams that don't have their own threads yet. Quick fucking around.
Wow that was fucking depressing. Jason Motte needs his kneecaps broken and his balls on a stick.

Too late to let Iggy close? Is he still on the team. Thought he'd be a stud closer. Wanted him in fantast BB.

*And Dusty Baker continues his aim to destroy good arms by having Harang throw 114 pitches on first start. So much for the Reds surprising this year at that rate. Go Dusty Go.

No, we let him go at the end of the year last year. Although I did think "Man I wish we had that fucker today" when Asshole McGee blew it for us.

Sorry, I know you're a Scrubs fan, but the rate we're going and being cheap asses we won't finish second. More like fourth.
Hey Cards fans, why wasn't Ryan Ludwick playing today? He is listed at the starting RF.
A couple of Extra Innings fueled thoughts on the season.

I don't know why people seem to be writing off Tampa. They did win the division last year. Comfortably. They're healthy, young, very good defensively, have top of the rotation talent in their rotation. have a stocked minor leagues from which to deal for help, shored up a weakness with the addition of Pat Burrell, and have David Price in AAA. What's not to like about that team?

Derek Jeter is going to get called out, a lot, on his defense this year.

The range of Denard Span and Carlos Gomez in the outfield is ridiculous. Considering that Young, Kubel, and Cuddyer aren't exactly murderers row, sticking with those two in the starting lineup is probably the best option for the Twins.

As a whole though, the Chavez/Guttierez/Ichiro outfield in Seattle has a chance to be something special. There were several other smart pickups and while I doubt that they'll even have a winning record, they certainly look much more like a ballclub with a plan.
Very sad about the Angels player getting killed.
Orlando Hudson hits for the cycle during the first home game of the season. Awesome.
I'm at the rays home opener against the Yankees. It's 15-5 and Nick Swisher is currently pitching, it's crazy.
Nice to see the Mets lose the first game in their brand new park. And here's to their outfielders dropping more balls this year, especially against the Phils!
The philly fans showed some class - they applauded Bill Hall's stunning 7th inning play to keep Dave Bush's no-hit bid going, and gave a nice send-off to Bush when he left the game after losing the no-no.
Still hating this Phils' slow start. Hating the fact that Hamels left that game yesterday even more. I say we win that game if he stays in, contusion or not.
Absolutely loving MLB Network, at night they actually cut to game feeds at key moments (ATM watching Broxton trying to close out the Rockies with 2 on and 2 out in the bottom of the ninth, with Vin Scully calling the game). It's amazing how much more valuable actual baseball coverage is than the usual crap ESPN spews.
Oh, yeah, MLB Network is aces right now. I can't remember a time i've watched it during prime time where there was more than 2 or 3 commercials during a break. Definitely tons of straight coverage.
Mariners off to a great start. It's still too early to get too excited, but after last season (101 losses) I can't help but be as giddy as a schoolgirl.

Sittin' atop the AL West currently. The way it should be.

GO M'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JazzyJustin,

I, too, am a Mariners fan, and I've been very cautious about even speaking about our great start -- don't wanna jinx it. I am very excited about it though. 2nd best record in the AL right now and 4th overall -- not too shabby.

Gotta do more on offense though. Wak's really got 'em playing fundamental baseball, but we gotta score more runs. We're 10th in the AL in runs scored right now. But we've had some great pitching so far so that's helped us out loads.
Yea, our pitching is really coming through. My man Felix is off to a great start, and Silva finally comin through last night with that W.

One thing we've been doing really well (that would have been UNHEARD of last season) is rallying back from sizeable deficits. Story was, the opposing team pulls ahead by even a run, and you can bet the farm that we never recompose and rallly. We've done that numerous times already this season.

And not mention WE ARE WINNING ON THE ROAD. It's incredible.

But again.. I'm not getting ahead of myself. Long way to go still. As you said, our offense still has work to do. But at least now I can don my Mariners gear with a sense of pride.
Fuck you ESPN. No, seriously, fuck you. Not only do you take a game away from Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling, but you make me listen to a guy that’s so dumb he makes Joe Morgan sound like a motherfucking genius.

Steve Phillips can’t just stop at ruining the Mets, he has to ruin their telecasts as well.

Fire this fucker already.
Ibanez just hit his 16th, and we're dismantling the Yankees right now. If Ibanez isn't the best player in baseball right now, I don't know who is.

The First Coming
Surely there’s an Oriole fan here somewhere who’s actually excited about this.
I thought Oriole fans were extinct.

Orioles fan here. I'm excited about finally getting to see Wieters, however, I don't see him coming up and immediately making an impact. From all the hyperbole you'd think he could cure cancer, reverse global warming, and make a decent Wolverine movie all while hitting 600 ft. home runs over the warehouse at Camden Yards.

I'm more excited about the bounty of young talent from A ball to MLB...Wieters, Jones, Markakis, Snyder, Rowell, Reimold, Tillman, Matusz, Arrieta, Patton, etc. If only 1 of every 3 promising prospects becomes anything, they're looking pretty good for the next decade. Fingers crossed.
Man, had they signed Teixeira this past offseason, that core would have been fairly ridiculous.

Ludicrous, in fact. Scott, Jones, Markakis, Mora, Izturis, Roberts, Teixeira, Wieters, Huff, Reimold, Montanez, Wigginton, Zaun, a decent bullpen, and 2 good starters with a plethora coming up through the system? That's almost as hot as Megan Fox. Did I just say that?
