The interesting thing (to me) is that there really would be a market for a realistic close range gunshot (or general wound) simulator. A variety of targets and weapons, sophisticated damage/deformation/blood and tissue splatter simulation, etc. Not a huge market, but I'm sure a sizeable number of the deranged and the curious would buy (or pirate) it. Something like this probably exists for crime labs.
I had a similar thought earlier this week when I saw commercials for a program on Discovery about ancient warriors. The commercial shows the narrator (a former Special Forces dude) learning about the weapons and tactics of the warriors, and using the weapons on ballistic gelatin heads & torsos complete with skeletons, organs and blood. I occurred to me that if you could cheaply mass produce those gelatin and skeleton (gel & skel?) busts, you could set up an area and charge people to whack at them with swords, axes and maces. Tell me that wouldn't be fun.
