Seaguy: Slaves of Mickey Eye

Sandwiched between We3, All Star Superman, and a bunch of other stuff, the original Seaguy mini kind of got overlooked. But it's become a cult favourite, and now the second installment is in stores. The art is still gorgeous, but everything has a rougher, somewhat grottier look to it that fits the theme of reality beginning to fray around the edges. And it's still funny as fuck.

Any love?

I loved the first Seaguy story.

This one just started on the wrong foot with me or something. It feels too much like a cleaned up Morrison retread.

What exactly do you mean by "cleaned up"? If anything it seems darker and creepier than the first series.

As for being a retread, that's kind of the point.

Love it. The artist, Cameron Stewart, is a stand-up guy, who unfortunately recently departed the Toronto comic scene for Montreal. Not that I blame him, Montreal is terrific...

The art feels sterile compared to the first mini-series. Morrison usually has a good relationship with his pencilers. It just feels like Cameron Stewart was going in one direction and Morrison went in another.

It kind of comes together at the end of the issue, but it feels jumbled.
