Columbus Ohio Horror Marathon

Thread Starter
Studio 35 in Columbus Ohio is hosting their 4th annual 24 hour horror marathon, with Bruce Campbell as the Guest of Honor. (WOOOOO!) He'll be introducing either Evil Dead or Evil Dead 2, both of which will be shown. They've also confirmed Squirm, The Hills Have Eyes, The Haunting (Original '63 version, none of that Disney-esque crap), Freaks, Dracula Has Risen From the Grave, and 2000 Maniacs. There will be more movies confirmed as they get closer to the marathon, and the URL is www.studio35.com. I'm telling you, this is a bad-ass marathon. Last year Joe-Bob Briggs was the Guest of Honor, and we're hoping to have an EXTRA special guest next year, but that's still in the works. wink

thanks for the tip.i'll have to check that out if the price is right.

Wait...a horror convention...and Bruce Campbell's going to be there? WOW!

<-----edge removal.

And is it me or did it just get shillier in here?
Squirm? Neat-o!

Aw, now you can't REALLY count this as too much of a shill, because I'm not making any money, I just happen to be working the door. And missing some damn fine movies, now that I think about it.

Tickets could be anywhere from 30, which is what they were last year, to 50, because Bruce is probably not going to be as inexpensive to house and stuff as Joe-Bob was. I love that man. I'd have his beer-drinking ass-counting kids anyday. We'll have all price info finalised in August, and you can join the mailing list at studio35.com.

I'm telling you, unless we're forced to sit through Buffy again, this marathon will rule ass. wink
post #6 of 34
hey, what the hell's wrong with Buffy?
the Paul Reubens death scene is worth watching the whole movie for.

Just how much ass is worth ruling? And would you rather rule ass or kick it? I think this is a topic worth discussing....

Did you mention that your theater sells beer? Cause I can't think of anything else that would seal the deal for me.

There's nothing wrong with Buffy, I suppose. Unless you're supposed to see Squirm and all the freakin fanboys throw a fit so you've gotta watch Buffy. Paul Reubens did make the movie, though. Did anyone else see him as a fat comic-book dealer guy? (Wow, that was unprofessional!) He had blonde hair, no less! I was excited. wink What the hell was that on, anyway?

And YES we sell beer, lots and lots of beer! Pizza, subs, and BEER. So come and drink overpriced beer and eat nummy pizza and subs, and watch some bad-ass movies. wink

if they actually do end up showing that movie, there's no way i'll miss it.i'm working on finding a ride right now.

I'm really hoping that JCVH is the one they decide to go with, but as it is, things are looking downhill for it, and if one more person nominates that we drop Squirm again in favor of some other crap-movie, I'm going to set someone on fire.
If I was in Ohio. I would certainly have a beer with Bruce.

New news. We're going to be presenting the Midwest premieres of Dagon and Dog Soldiers, and along with DS, there will be a Q&A session with Producer David E. Allen. Carnival of Souls will also be added to the lineup, and there's a possibility of Bubba Ho-Tep making an appearance in the lineup. Woowoo.

Why must I be tortured Lord?

What have I done?

Why is there no decent horror convention in Ottawa?

Oh! Why must I suffer?

I guess I must be in Hell!

Damn right you should! It doesn't get much geekier than spending 24 hours straight in a theatre with strangers and beer. wink

Come on, you KNOW you want to. wink

i would really like to meet who ever is going to the ohio marathon. i am going all the way from Oshawa, Ontario for this thing, and it is my first marathon, so i hope it rocks! ( i know it will... ) how much are tickets?
If my sources are correct and not off their rocker, I beleive tickets are about thirty bucks or around there... Check out the link on the first post and you'll find a phone number...

Damnit we need to make those rat bastards going to the fango shindig envious of us midwesterners and our 24 hour movie marathon with our two special guests!
what is the second guest? besides Campbell...and i am driving 6 hours and 44 minutes to get there...YAY!
can't wait!

Good news and bad news. Good news first just because more people would be inclined to care about that. Yup. Ticket prices have been announced, and they ARE...

$29 in advance, $33 the week of the show, and $35 the day of the show, if there are in fact any left by that point. I believe that you may be able to order them at the website, www.studio35.com but I'm not sure since I'm a complete failure as a messenger. wink

Bad news. Freaks has been dropped from the line-up. Tod Browning's classic with midgets aplenty apparently has been ousted in favor of other stuff. What the actual flick it was booted for is, I'm not sure of that, either.

So, as of right now, the official lineup is as follows-

THE EVIL DEAD (NEW 35M PRINT!)
EVIL DEAD 2
DOG SOLDIERS (MIDWEST PREMIERE w/Producer David E. Allen LIVE AND IN PERSON!)
DAGON (OHIO PREMIERE!)
THE HAUNTING (1963)
THE HILLS HAVE EYES
CARNIVAL OF SOULS (1962)
THE FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS (UNCUT EURO VERSION)
2000 MANIACS
DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE
SQUIRM

Joe, the man behind this monolitic midwestern event, is still awaiting word on one or two premieres. And did I mention there will be beer and boobies? wink

Isn't David Allen a stop motion animation guy? Just rings a bell in that department. I am probably wrong...
I'm pretty sure that's the David Allen that was a producer on 'Dog Soldiers', actually.

Lemmesee. No age restrictions- last year we had a five year old come close to winning the costume contest. Goddamn kids, cuteness outweighs everything else, apparently. Hmm. The dates are noon October 19 to Noon or thereabouts Sunday october 20th. But, I warn you, if you want a decent seat, get there early. We have people lining up at 6 in the morning, and with Bruce being the GoH, I bet that there will be a lot who want to sit up front. If I didn't have to stay shackled to the goddamn ticket table, I'd superglue my ass to the front row. With a change of diapers. Maybe I could be like the Soldier in White in Catch 22, and just switch the pee off for drinks? Nono. Nevermind.

But again, without the fruityness of that last sentence- absolutely no age restrictions, it starts at Noon Saturday october 19, tickets are 27 dollars in advance, 30 dollars the week of, and 33(?) the day of, if there happen to be any tickets left. Any other questions, or to read the entire lineup, even though I post it all the time just to be talking to myself, check out the site at www.studio35.com

Take it easy, taters.

I just caught that, like ten years later. Don't be surprised if you find something crazy in your beer.

Not like I'd do that. wink NEVER. wink

And new Canadian travelling friend™, I'll be looking forward to meeting you. I've only ever met two other Canadians, and they were kinda loopy. wink I'll buy you a beer for crossing international borders to come to the marathon! Woo!!!

No beer for me! I am a geeky 17 year old, and my dad has had his own problem with booze.

No, but in all seriousness, make sure to let me know when you hit the ticket table- I'll be in the orange prison jumpsuit. I want to shake hands with the person who's coming from Canada to watch some badass movies.

Sure i will! great! Can't wait!
Hey, do you happen to know when tickets will become available? I don't want to miss the boat on this one. And when are those flyers shipping? Any info would be appreciated!

Now, exactly do you know of that I've done to people's beer? All I can think of is that time I drank all of your booze. Okay, all of those times. Sorry about that. wink

And for those interested in buying tickets, (Steve, remember, I have yours.) and you live a little far away to just stop by the theatre and pick them up, you can email Joe, the head honkey in charge of the shindig at Joe@studio35.com

If he asks where you heard of everything, tell him his sister from California told you. wink
