My local store went out of business last year. So sad.

There's a live Tom Waits 7", with a song recorded last year in ATL.

I will be visiting The Exclusive Company (two blocks west of the river on Dousman!), and spending some cash on new music. Timebomb Tom (the manager and/or proprietor) is one seriously cool cat, so supporting him and his business is a worthwhile effort.

My favorite local store closed this year. I got choked up as I shook hands with the owner on the last day.

Yes, I'm aware of what a total puss I am.

Awesome - I was planning on going Saturday anyway (it's also the local comic shop), so it'll be interesting to see what they're doing to celebrate.

Anyone in the Jackson, Howell, or Lakewood area can't miss it. The Record Store (real name, honest) has a big Led Zeppelin IV cassette tape for a sign on the top of the building.

My daughter wants to know why the hell it's the same day as Coachella. She did give me a list of stuff to look for, though.

Massive thanks to Gray for: mentioning the free Gentleman Jesse tickets, setting me up with the Waits 7" and pointing out the $1 16 Horsepower DVD. (And for loaning me a dollar.) Hero of the day.

Couldn't make it on Friday due to work, but I did grab the new Wilco DVD (released Friday) from my Providence RI Newbury Comics. I wish I had that day off to hang at the mall, as some local artists were doing in-store performances. Oh well.

The Low Anthem, a Prov band, was doing an in-store at the Boston Newbury's, since they've now hit the big time.

Glad to help, Russ.

I enjoyed the day a lot. The highlights of hanging around Criminal on and off for a few hours:

-Carolina Chocolate Drops performance (banjo, fiddle, JUG)
-Free cake
-Manchester Orchestra performance (SUPER CROWDED, but great)
-FREE TVOTR TICKETS OMG THANKS CRIMINAL!
-My own copy of the $1 16HP DVD.
-$5 copy of Petey Wheatstraw soundtrack. (from what I've heard so far, this is just as great as you are thinking)

Did anyone get the Omar Rodriguez-Lopez El Grupo Nuevo LP? I was going to pick it up but it was $20. I just got the Record Store Day LP from Thrill Jockey. It's got a new Tortoise song on it.
