Great HBO documentary that centers around the last fight between Ali and Joe Frazier, but is really about their heated rivalry as a whole.

Enjoyed the fact that it focuses mainly on Frazier and those close to him instead of the same old Ali stuff, though there is a lot of good archived footage of Ali acting like a jerk towards Frazier.

Agreed on the great documentary piece.

Growing up idolizing Ali, this definitely puts a new light on him. Frazier has some deep hatred for the man.

I sort of understand why Frazier can't quite let it go, Ali went way further than just trying to psyche him out. Given the times they were living in a lot of what Ali was saying was way below the belt. Though I'm a hypocrite because I was laughing at some of it myself.

The bits with Ferdie Pacheco cracked me up real good.

As can I. All Smokin' Joe asked for was an apology. Granted, Ali did apologize through Frazier's son, I agree with him that it's not the same gesture as in person.

*Edit- Reading my writing gives me brain spasms. I hope you know what I am trying to say.

I got ya.

It was a trip seeing Burt Lancaster as the "Guest Color Commentator" for their first fight. That's the kind of oddball stuff that's missing from boxing today.

It was very good and you can feel for Frazier, but the man need to let it go for his own sack.

Though I think Ali medical problem have more to do with Foremen then Frazier. Foremen use to put holes in leather bags. Foremen with out a doubt was the greatest physically talented pugilist, who ever lived.

It was the fight of the century though, that was why you had Burt Lancaster and Sinatra there though.

i saw this too. fantastic.

it really takes 20 years to look back at something and appreciate all sides of a story. Frazier's story is a good one and deserved to be told. Too bad no one wanted/cared to hear it for so long.

Ali's jabs always made me laugh, but the documentary certainly made me understand how hurtful frazier percieved them as.

Its actually a little scary that he still holds so much hate for Ali.

Ali went too far with the Uncle Tom/Traitor stuff, but I did laugh at some of his other weird/retarded stunts. Like standing outside Frazier's Hotel with a fake gun and yelling

"AH'M GONNA SHOOT YOU JOE!!!!!!!"

I laughed at Ali saying the first fight meant nothing because it was a white man's decision. Then when he wins the second fight from the judges he still says it's a white man's decision but it's okay because this time they made the right decision.

Funniest Frazier part was him talking about a knockdown of Ali in the first fight that was ruled a slip. "He slipped on my left hook."

The Homes bet was funny too, Ali stung like the butterfly, Frazier stung like a Bee.

This is one of the most powerful, disturbing flicks I've seen in a long while. A great, haunting film. Brilliantly done.
